Following complaints about speeding from Denbury residents, local campaigner and District Councillor, John Nutley, went door to door in the village and raised a 221 signature petition. The petition, addressed to County Council Highways, County Hall, , reads: We, the undersigned residents of Denbury, urgently request that a 20mph speed limit be installed on all roads leading into and passing through our village. We also request that traffic calming measures be installed on the main roads through the village, especially those leading to Denbury Primary School, on West Street.

“From what residents tell me”, said John, “it Above: Cllr. John Nutley with Denbury resident, seems only a matter of time before someone is Valerie Denning, at County Hall, Exeter, prior to seriously hurt. It’s no wonder that residents are handing in the petition. concerned. Villages like Below: John presenting the petition to Devon County Denbury were not built Council Leader, Cllr. John Hart. for modern traffic and driving at 30mph, although currently perfectly legal, could hardly be described as safe!” “Nearby has a 20mph speed limit, and the roads there are generally wider than Denbury”
