"Dar Re Mi, in same ownership, went there and won the Sheema Classic and did it out of the ice and cold,@ Gosden said. AThis winter, as we all know, has been a very different one altogether. We've been lucky to have been able to move along quite normally with [The Fugue]." The Fugue, a 5-year-old mare, won last year=s G1 Yorkshire Oaks and G1 Irish Champion S. in back- to-back efforts before finishing second in the GI Breeders= Cup Turf and G1 Hong Kong Vase. FEATURE PRESENTATION • GIII SPIRAL S. Tamarando Sticks to Synthetic in Spiral cont. from p1 Tamarando was runner-up to California Chrome (Lucky Pulpit) in the Jan. 25 Cal Cup Derby on the Santa Anita main track, but posted a career-best when beating Dance With Fate (Two Step Salsa) in the GIII El Camino Real Derby Feb. 15. Tamarando is a colt who thrives on his racing, according to Hollendorfer. AHe=s never gone backwards,@ the conditioner offered. AUsually if a horse is going backwards, we try to freshen them up and get them going again. He=s always been steadfastly going forward and that=s why he=s run as many times as he has and he hasn=t shown any inclination to be jogging off or anything like that, so we=ve just kept going.@ Hollendorfer added, AHe=s been very ultra-consistent for me. He=s been very bullet sound and he=s warming up to this race really well.@ Despite posting all four of his career victories to date over the synthetic tracks, Hollendorfer isn=t willing to pigeon-hole his charge as a surface specialist. AHe is a good horse and so I expect him to win on different kinds of racetracks, but most of his opportunities have been on the synthetic tracks,@ Hollendorfer pointed out. AIf we happen to get to the [GI Kentucky] Derby, there=s usually a good pace there and that will give him a good chance to pass some horses.@ Cont. p4 TDN P HEADLINE NEWS • 3/19/14 • PAGE 4 of 11 • thoroughbreddailynews.com Tamarando Sticks to Synthetic in Spiral cont. King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Sponsored by QIPCO) Ascot Racecourse Background Information for the 65th Running Saturday, July 25, 2015 Winners of the Investec Derby going on to the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Sponsored by QIPCO) Unbeaten Golden Horn, whose victories this year include the Investec Derby and the Coral-Eclipse, will try to become the 14th Derby winner to go on to success in Ascot’s midsummer highlight, the Group One King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Sponsored by QIPCO), in the same year and the first since Galileo in 2001. Britain's premier all-aged 12-furlong contest, worth a boosted £1.215 million this year, takes place at 3.50pm on Saturday, July 25. Golden Horn extended his perfect record to five races on July 4 in the 10-furlong Group One Coral- Eclipse at Sandown Park, beating older opponents for the first time in great style. The three-year-old Cape Cross colt, owned by breeder Anthony Oppenheimer and trained by John Gosden in Newmarket, captured Britain's premier Classic, the Investec Derby, over 12 furlongs at Epsom Downs impressively on June 6 after being supplemented following a runaway Betfred Dante Stakes success at York in May. If successful at Ascot on July 25, Golden Horn would also become the fourth horse capture the Derby, Eclipse and King George in the same year. ËËË Three horses have completed the Derby/Eclipse/King George treble in the same year - Nashwan (1989), Mill Reef (1971) and Tulyar (1952). ËËË The 2001 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes saw Galileo become the first Derby winner at Epsom Downs to win the Ascot contest since Lammtarra in 1995.

  • BILL NADER by Bill Finley Bill Nader Is Coming Home
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2015 SHARED BELIEF SUCCUMBS TO COLIC Q & A: BILL NADER By Bill Finley Bill Nader is coming home. A former senior vice president and chief operating officer at the NYRA tracks, he left in 2007 to take the job as the executive director of racing for the Hong Kong Jockey Club. Recently, Nader announced that he would be leaving Hong Kong to return home. He says he will end his tenure with the HKJC in January and will likely return to the U.S. in February. The TDN sat down with Nader to find out why he is leaving Hong Kong and what he plans to do upon his return. TDN: After nine years working at what is widely viewed as one of the best racing operations in the world why did you now decided to leave and return to the U.S.? BN: This is very a difficult job to walk away from because I like Hong Kong, I like living here, I like the people, I love the organization.
