Market Art + Design 2021 For Immediate Release Press Contact: Sarah Usher SU PR, Inc. [email protected] The East End’s Premier Art Fair Returns to Bridgehampton Museum in August Bridgehampton, New York - Market Art + Design, the East End's premier and longest-running art and design fair, has announced its return to the Bridgehampton Museum from August 12-15. Built into the fair’s expanded, museum-quality pavilion right in the center of the town of Bridgehampton, Market Art + Design's eleventh edition will feature 80 top galleries presenting the best in modern and contemporary art and design alongside a program of partnerships and public projects, expanding the fair out into its shared spaces. A testament to its revered tradition and the steadfast resilience of the community, Market Art + Design is thrilled to be making an in-person return this year. As the fair’s exhibitions continue to increase in quality year after year, this summer’s event is slated to rival 2019, which saw their biggest show to date. With a renewed sense of community after the past year, this year’s event will feature a strong list of local stalwart galleries that have defined the region for the last few decades. Alongside the local exhibitions, the event will feature modern and contemporary dealers from around the country that will introduce this super-engaged audience to new galleries and new artists. Wide aisles and generous public areas will not only allow attendees to step back and absorb the immense artistry around them, but it will also create a safe and comfortable environment for patrons to celebrate the return of the beloved event and a sense of pre-pandemic normalcy. EXHIBITOR HIGHLIGHTS Highlights from this year’s Market Art + Design will include: Adamar Fine Arts presenting Damien Hirst’s Loyalty, 2021, an exquisite Diasec-mounted giclée print on aluminium composite panel, Roy Lichtenstein’s, Thinking Nude (C. 289), 1994, presented by Benrimon Editions; Magdalena Laskowska’s, Breeze over the Hills, 2021, presented by Contemopp Gallery; Mark Knoerzer’s, Lumieres, 2020, presented by M Fine Arts Galerie, and much, much more. Additionally, this year’s Fair will feature a couple of public art installations, including a vibrant piece by CHIAOZZA (the collaborative studio of Adam Frezza & Terri Chiao), entitled “Meander Sculpture #2” (2020), to be presented by VSOP Projects, as well as Kyle Clarkson’s Fun and Games, a hand-knotted carpet in silk/wool carpet, woven using a highly developed knotting technique to create a photorealistic design pulled straight from the pages of 1970's comic books, presented by Jan Kath Design. Inside, large-scale installations will include Richard Pitt’s stunning Night and Day, a group of three sculptures, which can also be viewed individually with the titles: “Folding City”, “Eclipse”, and “Golden Brick Road.” This selection, presented by amArtHouse, is inspired by Native American tradition, the titles of each individual sculpture change, with the notion that an individual earns their name. RISK’s installation contribution of the incredible “Face Your Fears” Shark, a lifesize sculpture made from found metal objects, presented by Chase Contemporary, will also be featured. On the digital art side, an assortment of NFTs are highlighted this year too, including Burgess Modern + Contemporary launching 3 new video-game based NFTs by internationally acclaimed contemporary artist, Super Buddha. From Pac Man, Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, and Grand Theft Auto, the new NFTs by Super Buddha highlight his love for 1980’s and 90’s video game nostalgia. Other NFT highlights for this year’s Fair are Chad Knight’s, Artistic Beauty presented by White Room Gallery, and a piece by the incredibly talented Madeleine Gross presented by Steidel Contemporary. IMPORTANT PARTNERSHIPS Artsy will join this year’s Fair as the official online partner. As the leading marketplace to discover, buy, and sell fine art, Artsy is dedicated to making a joyful, welcoming experience that connects collectors with the artists and artworks they love. In the 1950s and 1960s, the Hamptons became one of the most significant meeting grounds of like-minded artists, who gathered on the beach, in local bars, and at the artist-run Signa Gallery in East Hampton (active from 1957-60). It was an extension of the vanguard artistic activity happening in New York City around abstraction, which constituted a radical re-definition of art. But the East End was also a place where artists were freer to experiment. For the second time, Eric Firestone Gallery pays homage to this rich Lee Krasner, Present Conditional, 1976 collage on canvas, 72 x 108 inches and layered history in Montauk Highway II.
