McCormick Announces 74th Annual Unsung Heroes Awards Banquet

SPARKS, Md., April 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- McCormick & Company, Incorporated (NYSE: MKC), a global leader in flavor, today announced that Kyle Maynard, will deliver the keynote address at the 74th Annual McCormick Unsung Heroes Awards Banquet to be held on Monday, May 5 at the Hunt Valley Inn Baltimore.
Kyle Maynard is a motivational speaker, best-selling author and athlete who was born with arms that end at the elbows and legs that end near the knees. Despite physical challenges, he has accomplished numerous athletic achievements, including climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, bringing him media attention and the opportunity to share his inspiring message with audiences around the world.
The banquet will salute deserving male football players and female basketball players. A total of 113 high school seniors from 72 Baltimore area public, private, parochial and independent schools have been nominated. Two of the honorees—one male and one female, will receive the 2014 Charles Perry McCormick Scholarship, valued at$36,000 over four academic years.
Originally established in 1940 by former CEO Charles P. McCormick, the program recognizes unselfish team play and honors those who contribute substantially to the success of their teams without receiving acclaim. The program is reflective of McCormick & Company's core belief in The Power of People.
More than 700 city and county officials, school administrators, coaches, nominees and guests are expected to attend this year's event.
