CENTRAL FLORIDA’S TOP NINE STEM STUDENTS TO BE HONORED AT STATEWIDE CONFERENCE

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., May 17, 2017 – The Florida Department of Education and the Florida Education Foundation are recognizing nine of Central Florida’s highest-achieving eleventh grade STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) students at the Sunshine State Scholars conference May 19-20. The two-day conference, presented by Lockheed Martin, celebrates the accomplishments of Florida’s elite students and provides a unique venue for the state’s colleges, universities and employers to recruit their talents.

“I am pleased to congratulate each of these Sunshine State Scholars for receiving this tremendous academic accomplishment and being selected to represent their school districts,” said Commissioner of Education Pam Stewart. “It is my hope that during this two- day event, these outstanding scholars will learn more about the higher education and career opportunities we have here in Florida and that they will consider pursuing their dreams in the Sunshine State.”

Troupe 7434 to Perform at Walt Disney Theatre

Troupe 7434 welcomes our new leadership team: Presidents- Sophie Quinones & Daniel Tracht, Vice President- Kassidy Charles, Secretary- Camilo Gonzalez, Treasurer- Hannah Kaps, Public Relations- Dany Oliveira, Historians- Dari Perez & Emma Rieker, and Social Media Specialist- Brendan Morris. Although In The Heights is over, Troupe 7434 has the honor of participating in Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts’s Applause Awards where we will be awarded for our achievements such as; Outstanding Ensemble, Best Musical for both casts, and many others. We are excited to perform in the Walt Disney Theatre on June 4th! We are also thrilled for next Year’s season where we will be doing Shakespeare in the Fall and Aida as our Spring Musical!

Teacher Appreciation Week Luncheon

On May 2nd, 2017, the Spanish National Honor Society had the opportunity to thank all of the teachers in LNHS for their hard work throughout the year. Ms. Alamo, Francesca Allegrini, Karla Colon, Valeria Borges and Maria Pinzon planned everything, so that a taco salad bar was going to be ready for the teachers on the day! All the Spanish National Honor Society has to say is that the teachers extremely enjoyed the food, as well as the company! The SNHS is glad to have had the opportunity to serve the teachers for their amazing effort and positive attitude!

Report by Francesca Allegrini Seniors Awards Luncheon

On Friday May 12th, 2017, the Spanish National Honor Society celebrated the achievements of eleven seniors. The Society awarded the individuals for their hard work in the community, as well as receiving excellent AP scores of 5 in the AP Spanish Literature and Culture class. The new executive committee of the SNHS, including Valeria Borges as the President, Karla Colón as the Vice President, Francesca Allegrini as Historian and Treasurer and Maria Pinzon as the Secretary directed the event, while Ms. Alamo, official sponsor, had the honor of handing either cords or sashes to Rose Colon, Cedric Evers, Gilber Arnias, Andrea Hernandez, Florangel Rodriguez, Alexandra Braschi, Lenna Huelbes, Morgan Beckwar, Paula Quinones and Caroline Vanderlinder. The Society also wants to thank Ms. Taylor Rosser for coming in and sharing some of her stories helpful tips regarding college with the seniors! The event was a huge success and the SNHS is thankful for having the opportunity of awarding these honor students.
