Bradninch Life Your FREE Community Magazine Delivered to over 1000 households & online at www.bradninchlife.co.uk Issue 43: July/August 2014 for themselves as well as having a good time at the Football & School adventure parks they visited. I’m writing this on the summer solstice, wondering where the first six months of the year went. The weather is glorious - so can’t complain about that, however don’t get me started about the ***** football. What is so entertaining and fever producing about watching twenty two overpaid men chasing a little ball around a field? And as for the national team - perhaps the results would have been better if they were put up in a B&B and only paid when they won. Oh and made to wash up in a local café to earn their air fare home! Talking about football, Bradninch Rocks is back on Saturday 19th July with a brilliant line up. Starting at three o’clock with Wildwood Kin a folk/indie band, the event culminates with Bradninch superstar Chris Da- vison and his band Uncle Jam, followed by the Jake, Jack, Ben and Millie J from Foundation class on a forest school day out at Killerton Thorvertones. Tickets are on sale at Spar, but don’t leave it too late as numbers are limited. This family music festival is organised by Bradninch Football Club to raise funds to sustain and develop youth football in our community. This year the event will be held on Saturday 19th July, starting at 3pm. There are lots of family friendly activities planned, as well as great music from this year’s double headlin- ers – Uncle Jam and the Thorvertones. The music kicks off at 3:30pm with Wildwood Kin, an award winning 3 -piece folk/indie band from Devon. Next, Bradninch’s Zoë Leonard takes the stage with a mix of quirky and dainty covers and original songs, followed by My Black Hat performing a set of ragtime and country blues. South West trio Slipdown Dog fill the early evening slot with an original country rock style from the ‘deep south west’. As the evening advances into the night our first headline band Uncle Jam fronted by Bradninch’s own Chris Davison will perform a funky set that is certain to get everyone dancing. Finally, the Thorver- tones - our second headline act - will close the event with an eclectic mix from the Clash to Elvis Presley to entertain everyone into the early hours. In addition to the music, we have lots of activities planned for the whole family. There will be a bouncy castle, football skills challenges, Punch and Judy, speed ball to see who can kick the fastest ball in Bradninch, craft stalls and another chance to throw Keep your pets cool this Summer ….NEVER wet sponges at your favourite coach including your local postman!
