Kit Young's Sale #161 the Great 30'S Find Page 1 KIT YOUNG’S SALE #161 THE GREAT 30’S FIND Finally, we can show you the Ruths, Gehrigs, Cobbs, etc. from our “30’s Find” of several months ago. Incredibly fortunate! These are scarce (most Ruths in existence are now in collectors’ hands). We can now offer these cards professionally graded by PSA. These lower grade Gehrigs, Ruths, Cobbs are the hottest cards in the set. Simple: you don’t have to pay $10,000 or $15,000 (or $100,000) to own a vintage Ruth/Gehrig/Cobb – once in a decade offering. Call if you want one: these will sell quickly. 1933 Goudey #53 1933 Goudey #53 1933 Goudey #92 1933 Goudey #144 Babe Ruth Babe Ruth Lou Gehrig Babe Ruth PSA 2 GD $5995.00 PSA Authentic $3495.00 PSA 2 GD $2995.00 PSA 1 PR $4295.00 1933 Goudey #149 1933 Goudey #160 1933 Goudey #181 1933 Sport Kings #1 Babe Ruth Lou Gehrig Babe Ruth Ty Cobb PSA 1.5 FR $5995.00 PSA Authentic $2995.00 PSA Authentic $4995.00 PSA 1.5 FR $1095.00 PSA 1 PR $995.00 KIT YOUNG CARDS . 4876 SANTA MONICA AVE, #137. NBC History 5 On behalf of the NBC Baseball Foundation Board of Directors, I’d like to thank you for attending today’s game and sharing in this great tradition. It is my honor to serve as Chairman of this organization and to see 2016 Graduate of the Year 6-7 firsthand how the efforts of the Board have made this event stronger than ever. As a private, non-profit organization, we are dedicated to carry-on Hap Dumont’s original vision; one that provides quality baseball Former Graduates of the Year 8-9 in a family setting. The National Baseball Congress State Tournament was started in 1931 by Hap Dumont. It was originally 2016 League Affiliates 10 played on Island Park in the middle of the Arkansas River. In 1935, Hap added what has become our treasured annual event, the NBC World Series. Since then, the World Series has seen a few changes. The bats were wood, then switched to aluminum, then back to wood. The ownership of the tournament has 2016 NBC Award Sponsors 11 changed from private to public and now private. I Baseball had its antecedents In a,ball throw- Ing game In ancient Greece where a statue was ereoted to Aristonious for his proficiency in the game. The English , I were the first to invent a ball game in which runs were scored and the winner decided by the larger number of runs. Cricket might have been the national sport in the United States if Gen, Abner Doubleday had not Invented the game of I baseball. In spite of the above statement it is*said that I Cartwright was the Johnny Appleseed of baseball, During the Winter of 1845-1846 he drew up the first known set of rules, as we know baseball today. On June 19, 1846, at I Hoboken, he staged (and played in) a game between the Knicker- bockers and the New Y-ork team. It was the first. nine-inning game. It was the first game with organized sides of nine men each. It was the first game to have a box score. It was the I first time that baseball was played on a square with 90-feet between bases. Cartwright did all those things. I In 1842 the Knickerbocker Baseball Club was the first of its kind to organize in New Xbrk, For three years, the Knickerbockers played among themselves, but by 1845 they I had developed a club team and were ready to meet all comers.
