HAMLET BY: MATTHEW GIOVE Many people who have read Hamlet do not actually understand what the classic is about. In Raritan’s upcoming, modernized version, Hamlet is a seventeen-year-old prince who has recently taken a leave from his studies at Wittenberg College to attend his father’s funeral and mourn back at his home in New York City. His father was the CEO of Denmark Co. and the family lives at the Hotel Elsinore. After a month, Hamlet’s mother, Gertrude, has married his father’s younger brother, Claudius; making Claudius the new CEO and Hamlet’s stepfather. While trying to cope, Hamlet is told by his good friend, Horatia, that his father’s ghost has been walking the rooftop of the hotel. That night, Hamlet comes face to face with the ghost of his father and it reveals that Claudius has killed him; taking his title, spouse, and life.
