Don “The Dragon” Wilson new WAKO Ambassador

It is with great pleasure WAKO announces that Don “The Dragon” Wilson from USA will be ambassador for Kickboxing during the Sportaccord Combat Games in Beijing, 28. August to 4. September.

Wilson is an icon of our sport and it is with pride he will represent, involve and contribute during the week of celebration of all combat and martial art sports.

His record in the sports count of 79 proffesional matches in Fullcontact Kickboxing and with numerous world titles in various weight-classes. The Dragon has also become a famous actor with many roles in several action movies and is used as commentator in various martial art sports in USA.

Mini Biography Don “The Dragon” Wilson

Don "The Dragon" Wilson is considered by many to be the greatest kick- champion in the sport's history. A native of Central Florida, Cocoa Beach, Wilson had his first pro bout in 1974. In a career which spanned 4 decades, he won 11 world kick-boxing championships, ( was listed in the Guiness Book of World Records for the most World Championships in Kickboxing) among them the WKA, STAR, WKC, PKO , Lightheavyweight World Championships, WKA, STAR, ISKA, IKF, IKL, WAKO-PRO, World Titles, and the WKA and STAR Super-Lightheavyweight World Championships. He posted a record of 72-5-2 with 48 wins by . Wilson defeated such world champions as Dennis Alexio (undefeated at the time), Oaktree Edwards (PKA Champion), Maurice Smith (UFC Champion and WKA Heavyweight Champion), Branco Cikatic (WAKO gold medallist and first K-1 Champion), and James Waring (IBF Boxing Champion and WKA Kickboxing Champion). He retired from the sport in 1990, but launched a comeback on May 14, 1999. Since his return he has knocked-out Dick Kimber (Viewers Choice PPV) and defeated Dewey Cooper in a 10 round decision at the MGM in televised on ESPN and Canal Plus in Europe. His last bout was in 2002 at the Atlantic City Tropicana which he won by KO in the 10th round against Eddie Butcher. The "Dragon" has announced the UFC, King of the Cage, and numerous kickboxing shows televised on ESPN, Showtime, NBC Sportsworld, PPV, etc. Since he was a collegiate wrestler before kickboxing, the new Mixed Martial Arts Sport is a natural for him. He has starred in 27 Hollywood martial arts action films with 4 HBO World Premieres and, most recently, a SCI-FI Channel Premiere May 12, 2007, "The Last Sentinel". He has received producer credits on 14 of his films, but has worked actively behind the scenes with script, casting, editing, etc. to insure the best quality possible for his films.
