MULWALA, NSW

The weather may be cooler, but there’s still plenty to see and do at Mulwala. Just over two hours’ drive from , with the picturesque on its doorstep, it’s the perfect spot for a weekend trip or a school holiday getaway.

The focal point of the region is Lake Mulwala, a large man-made lake created in 1939 and situated between the twin towns of Yarrawonga and Mulwala. Famous for its ghostly river red gums and fantastic water skiing conditions, Lake Mulwala is also a great spot for swimming, sailing, canoeing, fishing and cruising. And while it might be too cold for water skiing and swimming by autumn, the other activities happen all year round.

On 21 and 22 April you’ll find the most-high octane of water sports, the third and final round of the 2018 Australian Formula Powerboat Grand Prix.

Spectators can watch this fast and colourful extreme sport from the banks of the Lake as the ‘supercars of the water’ accelerate from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in under three seconds. Their skilled drivers take the boats through hairpin turns and high-speed manoeuvres, reaching top speeds of up to 250 kilometres per hour.

More information about the Powerboat Grand Prix is available at www.afpgp.com.au.

But it’s not all about the Lake and watersports. In Mulwala itself you’ll find events, festivals, clubs, shops, galleries, museums and restaurants aplenty, not to mention a range of accommodation options to suit every taste and budget.

One of the region’s other star attractions is the Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort, ’s largest public access golf resort. Set in beautiful bushland right on the banks of the Murray and the Lake, there are three manicured golf courses to delight keen golfers and casual players alike. Then there’s the Resort’s movie theatre, tennis courts, swimming pool, day spa, magnificent bowling and croquet greens, kids’ activity area and luxuri- Griffith Wagga Wagga ous accommodation.
