The spirit of cricket Each year, the First Lady of University Cricket, Sheila Corcoran (top), attends the end of season dinner to present the TJ Corcoran Spirit of Cricket Award, named in honour of her late husband Tom. At the 2018 dinner, Sheila spoke of her family’s ongoing appreciation of the way the club has honoured Tom, and reminisced about Tom’s playing days under Clem Jones’ captaincy, and the loyal friendship they forged. In 2018, Sheila presented the award to Oliver Mower, who joins a long line of outstanding UQCC personalities to have received the award since its inception in 2006–07 (see page 15 for a full list).

NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2018 1 Summary of Significant Accounting Policies The committee has determined that the association is not a reporting entity on the basis that, in the opinion of the committee, there are unlikely to exist users of the financial report who are unable to command the preparation of reports tailored so as to satisfy, specifically, all of their information needs. Accordingly, this financial report is a special purpose financial report, which has been prepared in order to satisfy the financial report preparation requirements of the Associations Incorporation Act (Qld) 1981.

The financial report covers University of Queensland Cricket Club Inc. as an individual entity. University of Queensland Cricket Club Inc. is a association, formed and domiciled in Australia. University of Queensland Cricket Club Inc. is a not-for-profit entity for the purpose of preparing the financial statements.

The financial report was approved by the committee as at the date of the committees' report.

The financial report has been prepared under the historical cost convention, as modified by revaluations to fair value for certain classes of assets and liabilities as described in accounting policies.

(a) Financial Instruments Financial liabilities include trade payables, other creditors and loans from third parties including inter-company balances and loans from or other amounts due to director-related entities. Non- derivative financial liabilities are subsequently measured at amortised cost, comprising original debt less principal payments and amortisation. Financial liabilities are classified as current liabilities unless the group has an unconditional right to defer settlement of the liability for at least twelve months after the reporting period.

Loans and receivables are non-derivative financial assets with fixed or determinable payments that are not quoted in an active market. Loans and receivables are subsequently measured at amortised cost using the effective interest rate method.

(b) Cash and cash equivalents Cash and cash equivalents include cash on hand and at banks, short-term deposits with an original maturity of three months or less held at call with financial institutions, and bank overdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown within borrowings in current liabilities in the balance sheet.

Risks and rewards of ownership are considered passed to the buyer at the time of delivery of the goods to the customer.

Grant revenue is recognised in the profit or loss when it is controlled. Where binding conditions, or specified milestones, exist relating to the specific purposes for which the grant funds may be applied, grant revenues are recognised in the balance sheet as a liability until such time that all conditions of the grant are met. Revenue from the rendering of services is recognised upon the delivery of the service to the customers. Interest revenue is measured in accordance with the effective interest method. All revenue is measured net of the amount of goods and services tax (GST).

Interest revenue is recognised in accordance with the effective interest method.

Revenue from the rendering of services is recognised upon the delivery of theservicetothe customer.

All revenue is stated net of the amount of goods and services tax.

(d) Goods and Services Tax (GST) Revenues, expenses and purchased assets are recognised net of the amount of GST, except where the amount of GST incurred is not recoverable from the Tax Office. (e) Comparative Figures Where necessary, comparative information has been reclassified and repositioned for consistency with current year disclosures.

QUALIFIED OPINION

We have audited the financial report of University of Queensland Cricket Club Inc. (**the Association"), which comprises the statement of financial position as at 30 June 201.8, the income statement for the Year then ended and notes to the financial statements, including a summary of significant accounting policies and the statement b the members of the Committee.

In our opinion, except for the effects of the matter described in the Basis for Qualified Opinion section of our report, the accompanying financial report presents fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of the Association as at 30 June 2018, and its financial performance for the Year then ended in accordance with the Association Incorporat/bns Act 1981 .

BASIS FOR QUALIFIED OPINION

Members Subscriptions, Function Revenue, Canteen Revenue, Merchandise Sales and Coaching Income are mainly cash transactions. The Association has determined that it is impracticable to establish control over the collection of these cash transactions rior to entry into its financial records. Accordingly, as the evidence available to us re ardin these revenue sources was limited, our audit procedures with respect to these transactions had to be restricted to those amounts recorded in the financial records. We therefore are unable to express an opinion whether the revenue transactions recorded in the income statement by the Association are complete. We conducted our audit in accordance with Australian Auditing Standards. Our responsibilities under those standards are further described in the Auditor's Responsibilities for the Audit of the Financial Report section of our re orL. We are independent of the Association in accordance with the ethical requirements of the Accounting Professional and Ethical Standards Board's APES 1.10 Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (the Code) that are relevant to our audit of the financial report in Australia. We have also fulfilled our other ethical responsibilities in accordance with the Code. We believe that the audit evidence we have obtained is sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for our opinion.

EMPHASIS OF MATTER - BASIS OF ACCOUNTING

We draw attention to Note I to the financial report, which describes the basis of accounting. The financial report has been prepared to assist the Association to meet the requirements of the Associatibn Incorporations Act 1981. As a result, the financial report may not be suitable for another purpose. Our opinion is not modified in respect of this matter.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF MANAGEMENT AND THOSE CHARGED WITH GOVERNANCE FOR THE FINANCIAL REPORT

Management is responsible for the preparation and fair presentation of the financial report in accordance with the financial reporting requirements of the Association Incorporations Act 1981 and for such internal control as management determines is necessary to enable the preparation and fair presentation of a financial report that is free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error.

In preparing the financial report, management is responsible for assessing the Association's ability to continue as a going concern, disclosing, as applicable, matters relating to going concern and using the going concern basis of accounting unless management either intends to liquidate the Association or to cease operations, or has no realistic alternative but to do so.

Those charged with governance are responsible for overseeing the Association's financial reporting process. . .

AUDITOR'S RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE AUDIT OF THE FINANCIAL REPORT

Our objectives are to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial report as a whole is free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error, and to issue an auditor's report that includes our opinion. Reasonable assurance is a hi h level of assurance, but is not a guarantee that an audit conducted in accordance with the Australian Auditing Standards will always detect a material misstatement when it exists. Misstatements can arise from fraud or error and are considered material if, individuallyindiv'd or in the aggregate, they could reasonably11 be expected h to influence 'the economic decisions of users taken on the basis of this financial report. A further description of our responsibilities for the audit of the financial report is located at the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board website at: htt : WWW. auasb. ov. au Home. as x. This description forms part of our auditor's report.
