Diese Frage beschäftigt die öffentliche Diskussion in den letzten Jahren immer wieder. Diese Diskus- sion war sehr stark davon bestimmt, dass es „der Wirtschaft“ schlecht gehe, dass bei den Kosten wei- ter gespart werde müsse, um die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der Unternehmen und ihren Verbleib am Standort Österreich sowie die Arbeitsplätze zu sichern. Daraus abgeleitet wurden politische Forde- rungen nach weiteren „Entlastungen der Wirtschaft“, Senkung von Lohnnebenkosten und Unterneh- menssteuern sowie Forderungen nach Einkommens- und Sozialverzichten oder flexibleren Arbeitszei- ten von ArbeitnehmerInnen. Denn wenn es der Wirtschaft gut gehe, gehe es allen gut, wird argumen- tiert. Die Analyse und Darstellung der wesentlichen Kennzahlen der wichtigsten heimischen Unternehmen der letzten Jahre soll dazu beitragen, die Situation objektiver und besser einschätzen zu können. Die ÖGPP hat dazu die Geschäftsberichte der wichtigsten mehr als 30 Unternehmen Österreichs, die am Prime Market der Wiener Börse notiert sind, danach untersucht, wie sich die Unternehmenser- gebnisse vor und nach Steuern, die ausgeschütteten Dividenden, die getätigten Investitionen sowie die Zahl der Beschäftigten in den Jahren 2002 bis 2006 – also fünf Jahren mit schwächerem wirt- schaftlichen Wachstum – entwickelt haben. Und es zeigt sich: die Unternehmensgewinne und Divi- denden stiegen in diesen Jahren rasant und konstant an, während die Investitionen und Beschäftig- tenzahlen stagnierten oder gar zurückgingen.

Zum Untersuchungszeitpunkt waren folgende Unternehmen im ATX notiert: Andritz AG, AT&S Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik AG, BAWAG Group AG, CA Immobilien Anlagen AG, DO&CO AG, Erste Group Bank AG, Immofinanz AG, Lenzing AG, Mayr-Melnhof Karton AG, Österreichische Post AG, OMV AG, Raiffeisen Bank International AG, Schoeller-Bleckmann Oilfield Equipment AG, S Immo AG, Telekom Austria AG, Uniqa Insurance Group AG, Verbund AG, Vienna Insurance Group AG, Voestalpine AG und Wiener- berger AG Zum Auswertungszeitpunkt, mit Stand 2. April 2020, lagen von 13 Unternehmen die vollständigen Konzernab- schlüsse (Andritz AG, BAWAG Group AG, Erste Group Bank AG, CA Immobilien Anlagen AG, Lenzing AG, OMV AG, Österreichische Post AG, Raiffeisen Bank International AG, Schoeller-Bleckmann Oilfield Equipment AG, S-Immo AG, Telekom Austria AG, Verbund AG Wienerberger AG) vor. Von weiteren 3 Unternehmen lagen die vorläufigen Zahlen (Mayr-Melnhof Karton AG, Uniqa Insurance Group AG und Vienna Insurance Group AG) vor. Es können daher mit Stand 2. April 2020 verlässliche Aussagen zu 80 % der ATX Konzerne getätigt werden. Rekordgewinne – zwei Drittel der Unternehmen konnten ihre Ergebnisse verbessern Das abgelaufene Wirtschaftsjahr 2019 bescherte den ATX-Unternehmen nach dem Vorjahr erneut Rekordge- winne. Konkret stieg das kumulierte, den AktionärInnen zurechenbare Ergebnis der 16 ATX Konzerne um 3,9 % auf 7,75 Milliarden Euro.
