I am delighted to report that we continue to make significant progress. I hope you find this briefing interesting and welcome any comments you may have. In June, we agreed to take on responsibility for new priority areas of work, which will help deliver some of the City Councillor Frank McAveety Deal’s 28,000 new jobs. We also committed to developing a manifesto for economic development for the City Region. As the economic powerhouse of Scotland, it is crucial that we are at the forefront of shaping long-term growth for our local communities. Later this year we will set out our aspirations for how we want the City Region to maximise its economic potential. There is welcome debate opening up about a host of issues, such as regional economic partnerships, and we will work with all of our key partners in government and national and regional agencies as we help shape the future landscape. The City Deal also marked a number of significant milestones; the establishment of a new brand, the completion of the first City Deal infrastructure sub project by East Renfrewshire Council, and the first meeting held for the Region’s Commission for Economic Growth.
