Officials serving at ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships 2019 and ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships 2019 This initiative is intended to assist our Officials in the preparation for their duties at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships 2019 and ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships 2019. This will be an intensive Seminar to update all Officials with the latest Rules and Regulations applicable to the upcoming major Events. The ISU wants to ensure that athletes in Synchronized Skating receive the support that they deserve by having knowledgeable and well-trained Officials evaluating their performances. Judging and technical officiating opportunities are few and many ISU Officials may only participate in the World Championship in one season. The ISU feels it is important to give the Referees, Judges and Technical Officials as much practical guidance as possible for their important duty at the most important ISU Events. Participants: The candidates for the Seminar are those Judges appointed by their ISU Members that have been drawn to participate at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships 2019 and ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships 2019. Communication No. 2395 Decisions of the Council The ISU Council met on June 3, 2021 via an online meeting. The following were among the decisions taken by the Council during the meeting. 1. Full ISU Membership The Council granted full ISU Membership for the Speed Skating Branch to the Brazilian Ice Sports Federation, which is already a full ISU Member for the Figure Skating Branch. 2. New Provisional ISU Member The ISU Council granted provisional ISU Membership for the Speed Skating Branch to the Winter Sports Federation of Portugal (Federação de Desportos de Inverno de Portugal). The contact details and relevant information related to the Winter Sports Federation of Portugal can be found on the ISU website under the “ISU Member” section. 3. Definite allotment of ISU Championships season 2021/22 In accordance with Rule 127 of the ISU General Regulations, the Council has definitely allotted the Championships for 2022 as follows: Speed Skating ISU European Speed Skating Championships to be held in Heerenveen, Netherlands on January 7- 9, 2022 ISU Four Continents Speed Skating Championships to be held in Obihiro, Japan on January 28-30, 2022. Communication No. 2242 SINGLE & PAIR SKATING and ICE DANCE GUIDELINES FOR INTERNATIONAL NOVICE COMPETITIONS A. GENERAL 1. Entries Entries to the competitions are made by the ISU Members (for International Competitions) or Sections/Clubs (for Interclub Competitions), which must be a member of the ISU Member, based on the age and the level of the Skaters. 2. Age requirements Rule 108, paragraph 3) c) In International Novice Competitions a Novice is a Skater who has met the following requirements before July 1st preceding the competition: i) Basic Novice - has not reached the age of thirteen (13); ii) Intermediate Novice - has not reached the age of fifteen (15); iii) Advanced Novice - has reached the age of ten (10) and has not reached the age of fifteen (15) for girls (Singles/Pair Skating/Ice Dance) and boys (Single Skating) and seventeen (17) for boys (Pair Skating/Ice Dance). 3. Deductions for Interruption(s) in performing the program for ALL Novice categories: For every Interruption of: - more than 10 seconds up to 20 seconds: - 0.5 - more than 20 seconds up to 30 seconds: - 1.0 - more than 30 seconds up to 40 seconds: - 1.5 Interruption of the program with allowance of up to three (3) minutes to resume from the point of interruption: - 2.5 per program As the values of those deductions are not the standard ones provided by Rules 353, paragraph 1.n), the Referee must give specific instructions to the system operator and check the correct input in each instance. 4. 3671 ARGENTINE TANGO (GOLD DANCE TEST) Music - Tango 4/4 Tempo - 24 measures of 4 beats per minute - 96 beats per minute Pattern - Set Duration - The time required to skate 2 sequences is 1:10 min. The Argentine Tango should be skated with strong edges and considerable “élan”. Good flow and fast travel over the ice are essential and must be achieved without obvious effort or pushing. The dance begins with partners in open hold for steps 1 to 10. The initial progressive, chassé and progressive sequences of steps 1 to 6 bring the partners on step 7 to a bold LFO edge facing down the ice surface. On step 8 both partners skate a right forward outside cross in front on count 1 held for one beat. On step 9, the couple crosses behind on count 2, with a change of edge on count 3 as their free legs are drawn past the skating legs and held for count 4 to be in position to start the next step, crossed behind for count 1. On step 10 the man turns a counter while the woman executes another cross behind then change of edge. This results in the partners being in closed hold as the woman directs her edge behind the man as he turns his counter. Step 11 is strongly curved towards the side of the ice surface. At the end of this step the woman momentarily steps onto the RFI on the “and” between counts 4 and 1 before skating step 12 that is first directed toward the side barrier.

April 8 - 10, 2021 Zagreb / Croatia ANNOUNCEMENT World Synchronized Skating Championships® 2021, April 8-10, 2021, Zagreb / Croatia 1. GENERAL REGULATIONS First and foremost, the following information is subject to a timely normalization of the coronavirus situation allowing the safe organization of the ISU Championships this winter. The ISU is closely monitoring the respective developments in consultation with the organizing ISU Members and with the expectation and hope that the situation will be restored to normal as quickly as possible. Please refer to ISU Communication No. 2320, point 2. The ISU will inform ISU Members in case of any development or related decision. The ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships® 2021 is an event of the International Skating Union (ISU) and will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations 2018 ISU Special Regulations and Technical Rules Synchronized Skating 2018, as well as all pertinent ISU Communications. Participation in the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships® 2021 is open to all Teams who belong to an ISU Member, Rule 130, paragraph 7) and qualify with regard to eligibility according to Rule 102, provided the ages fall within the limits specified in Rule 108, paragraph 4 a) and they meet the participation, citizenship and residency requirements according to Rule 109, paragraphs 1 and 2 d) and ISU Communication 2030 (or any update of this Communication).
