The Kuwaiti employer of Villavende killed her on Dec 28, 2019. The Kuwaiti Criminal Court issued a verdict the following year, sentencing the female employer to death by hanging, and the husband to four years imprisonment for covering up and not reporting the crime. Lomondot went on to say: “This is what we had wanted - death for death, life for life, and blood for blood. So, our embassy has no other position but for the execution of the person who killed Villavende so she can get jus- tice.” Attorney Sheikha Fawzia Al-Sabah, a Kuwaiti human rights lawyer and the embassy’s lead counsel, affirmed that the court’s ruling is fair and in compliance with the law and Sharia. According to Lomondot, Attorney Fawzia also rejected the request of the lawyer of the other party to negotiate on blood money. He pointed out that neither the embassy nor Attorney Fawzia has the authority to engage in this kind of negotiation. “Our posi- tion is for execution of the culprit,” he reiterated. FBI makes ‘arrest’ Cybercops derail malware botnets THE HAGUE, Netherlands, Jan 28, (AP): European and North American cyber cops have joined forces to disrupt what may be the world’s largest network for seeding malware infec- tions. The operation appears to strike a major blow against criminal gangs that have used that network for years to install ransomware for extortion schemes and to steal data and money. Separately, the FBI announced the arrest Wednesday of a Canadian as part of a bid to disrupt a ransomware gang that has targeted the health care sector, but has also hit municipalities, law enforce- ment and school districts, mostly in the United States. The FBI said it seized nearly half a million dollars in crypto- currency. European Union police and the judi- cial agencies Europol and Eurojust said Wednesday that investigators took con- trol of the infrastructure behind the botnet known as Emotet. ‘Virus will kill many more’ Take 2nd dose on time to combat COVID: CDC WASHINGTON, Jan 28, (Agencies): The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday that based on recommendations people should get their second dose as close to the recommended interval as possible. “The CDC still recommends that people get their second dose as close to the recommended interval as possible. That would be three weeks for the Pfizer vaccine and four weeks for the Moderna vaccine,” US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said at the White House Covid-19 Response Team’s first press briefing. “However, we also know that life can get in the way, and that some of those doses may be missed in the best time win- dow. And in those circumstances, the second dose may be given up to six weeks, or 42 days, after the first.” “Second, the CDC has reiterated that the Covid-19 vac- cines are not interchangeable. However, it’s also true that in ex- tremely rare circumstances, people may not simply remember, or have documentation of, which first dose they received. In these extremely rare situations, we have said that any avail- able mRNA Covid-19 vaccine may be administered as the second dose,” “I want to take a moment here to emphasize that the Covid-19 vaccines are safe and they work. And this is backed up with data.” Fauci “Let me be clear, these are rare, treatable outcomes and the Covid-19 vaccines are safe. It’s also important to put this into context. The risk with getting sick with Covid-19 are much higher than the risk of allergy or anaphylaxis from the vaccine.” “Get vaccinated when it’s your turn,” Walensky added. On another front, Andy Slavitt, senior adviser to the White House Covid-19 Response Team, said “I want to level with Edin Mackic, TVAR patient and his family. the public that we’re facing two constraining factors. The first is getting enough supply quickly enough, and the second is the ability to administer the vaccines quickly once they’re produced and sent out to the sites,” Slavitt said. Hungry for content Sundance robust market heats up By Lindsey Bahr

hree years ago, filmmakers Julie Cohen and Betsy TWest got a dream Sundance debut. They pre- miered their film “RBG” to a sold-out crowd with Jus- tice Ruth Bader Ginsburg not only in attendance but seeing it for the first time. There was a standing ova- tion, a bidding war and a big sale. It also went on to be a major awards contender. It’s the kind of Sundance experience most filmmakers fantasize about. This year they’re returning to the festival with their follow-up, “My Name is Pauli Murray” about the somewhat obscure legal trail- blazer, and while their excite- ment remains high, the festival itself will be quite different. Like so many in the past year, Sundance has had to reinvent itself as a mostly virtual expe- rience. Still, the 2021 Festival which kicks off Thursday is shaping up to be a robust mar- ket for companies looking for Wilde content. More than 72 feature fi lms are debuting over the sev- en days. It’s slimmed-down lineup from the previous years’ 118 and some already have ways to get to audi- ences, like Robin Wright’s “Land” and “Judas and the Black Messiah,” which will both be available to the masses in the coming weeks. But many this year are acquisition titles seeking distribution deals. “Buyers and sellers have found a rhythm for con- ducting business at virtual markets, to great success. And consumers are continuing to ask for more con- tent,” said Deb McIntosh, an SVP at Endeavor Con- tent. “I’m confi dent that we’ll fi nd distribution part- ners for all of our fi lms.” Julie Dansker, an executive at Shout! Studios, is Actress Cloris Leachman gestures to honoree Mel Brooks in the audience during the American Film Institute’s 41st Lifetime Achievement Award Gala on June 6, coming to the virtual festival looking for fi lms to buy 2013, in Los Angeles. Leachman, a character actor whose depth of talent brought her an Oscar for the ‘The Last Picture Show’ and Emmys for her comedic work in and Sundance, she said, always offers a variety of ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show’ and other TV series, has died.
