2009 TRIBUTE TO THE ‘60S SUMMER CONCERT SERIES

• Pop & Arena Rock Concert: Saturday, July 4 Featuring The Blushing Brides. The World’s most dangerous tribute to the music of ! Arena rock's origins can be traced to the late 1960s, with bands such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Who. Pop & Arena Rock bands set the stage for huge live performances in stadiums and arenas around the globe. No one had a greater impact than the Rolling Stones. • July 4th Fireworks: Saturday, July 4 Celebrate with family and friends at NARA Park for a great display of fireworks! The July 4th event at NARA is an exceptional opportunity for folks to gather with friends and family and continue the annual tradition or begin a new one. • The Reign of Concert: Thursday, July 16 From the “Motor City” of , a unique blend of pop, R&B, and rock ‘n roll virtually dominated the airways throughout the ‘60s. ‘60s Motown really was the sound of teenage America. Our Reign of Motown Concert will feature hits from these artists and more! & , , Temptations, Smoky Robinson, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, Otis Day & the Nights, , Stevie Wonder and more. This concert performed by the “Scooby Snax Band.” • Flower Power Concert: Thursday, July 23 The Flower Power concert will be a folk rock music event where many of the hits from these performers were from the late ‘60s: Simon & Garfunkel, Buffalo Springfield, Bob Dylan, The Byrds, Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and the Allman Brothers. This concert performed by “Classic Trax.” • Summer of Love Concert: Thursday, July 30 In the summer of 1967, the newly-born hippie movement was gathering around the city of San Francisco and with it, local bands were quickly formulating a unique sound. Our Summer of Love concert will feature hits from The Doors, , Sly Stone, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, CCR, and Bob Dylan. This concert performed by “In The House.” • The British Invasion Concert: Thursday, August 6 The Beatles’ triumphant arrival in New York City on February 7, 1964, opened America’s doors to a wealth of British musical talent. What followed would be called the second British Invasion. This concert will feature the Beatles tribute band “Beatles for Sale.” • Beach Party Concert: Thursday, August 13 In 1962 Surfin’ Safari scored the Beach Boys a #1 hit and the rest is history! It’s our annual Beach Party Blast at NARA Park. The Beach Party concert will feature the popular group “60s Invasion”! So we’re waxing our surfboards and getting ready for lots of fun and games for all ages! • Elvis Alive & Well and Oldies Show Concert: Thursday, Aug. 20 Featuring “Jeff Jarvis” The Jeff Jarvis Show is a fun, high energy show. Jeff has been performing as an Elvis Impersonator throughout the nation. Music features Oldies hits from Elvis, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Tom Jones, Neil Diamond, Frank Sinatra & the Blues Brothers.

Here are some fun family special events mixed into our concert series! • TJ O’Grady Skate Park 3rd Anniversary: Saturday, May 16 A fun and exciting event for youth filled with live music, professional skate demos, prizes and giveaways. • Free Family Movie Nights: Various Friday Nights Pack up the snacks and lawn chairs, it’s Free Family Movie Night for all ages. • NARA Park Fishing Derby: Sunday, May 17 It’s the annual derby at NARA Park. This is a catch & release derby. All children receive goody bags. • Tanglewood Marionettes: Thursday, June 25 Tanglewood Marionettes is a nationally touring marionette theater based in New England. The shows were a huge hit both at Acton Day, 2007 and as a stand alone event in 2008. 2009 Summer Events and Concerts at NARA Park All events subject to change.
