Coronavirus vaccination invitation 01.02.2021 Coronavirus vaccination for people over the age of 70 Vaccinations for the elderly will begin in the region of the Päijät-Häme Welfare Group during the week which starts February 8th. Starting February 4th vaccination time can be scheduled by people aged 80 and older. A caregiver or a person over 70 living in the same household can also book an appointment. In this case, an appointment must be made by phone for both and for the same vaccination visit. Appointments for the 70-79-year-olds will open in March, and after that for the groups at risk before more extensive vaccination of the population. We will provide more information on those belonging to the risk group separately. We will also inform on when these vaccinations start. Vaccination of the population is estimated to begin in May. Vaccination is voluntary and free. Home care clients are encouraged to apply for coronavirus vaccine primarily at the Social and Health Care Center (Sote-keskus). If a visit to the vaccination point is not possible, the vaccination of the home care clients can be arranged in a form of a home visit (to be agreed with your own home care). Scheduling an appointment online, or, if necessary, by phone Vaccination can only be received by appointment, and each person to be vaccinated must book their own time. We recommend scheduling an appointment electronically. If it is not possible to use an online appointment system, make an appointment by phone from your own Social and Health Care Center. Appointment contact information is at the end of the letter. Vaccination consists of two doses of the vaccine, one of which is given 12 weeks after the first vaccine, according to the new guidelines by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). Appointment for the both vaccinations is booked at once. If you cannot come to the vaccination, it is important that you cancel the time. Cancellation and rescheduling are done by phone through your own Social and Health Care Center. You can schedule a time to any Health Care Center. Note that both vaccines are given at the same location. Preparing for vaccination Please do not come to the vaccination if you have fever, respiratory symptoms, or stomach symptoms. If necessary, cancel the scheduled appointment. The vaccination is injected to the upper arm, so please wear clothing which provides easy access to the upper arm. Bring your identification documents. To avoid congestion, it is important not to come to the waiting area too early. Please arrive at the agreed time. After vaccination, the follow-up time is 15 minutes, or in the case you have previously had an anaphylactic reaction to any vaccine or medication, the follow-up time is 30 minutes. Be prepared to account for this in your schedule. Vaccinations are offered at the following locations:
