PG ADMISSION 2014-2015

Online registration for admission to various 2 years Post-graduate/Master’s Courses under the different Faculties/Departments of , Nadia District, , and affiliated Colleges shall be open for the candidates from 04.06.2014 to 16.06.14. Candidates with undergraduate Honours degree in the 10+2+3 system are eligible to apply. Candidates appearing for the final examination of their Honours Course may also apply.

Criteria for Admission

1. According to the guidelines of Higher Education Department, Govt of West Bengal, intake of candidates in each course will be 60% from the students of the University of Kalyani* and 40% open to Honours Graduates from other Universities and University of Kalyani. (* ‘Students of the University of Kalyani’ here means the candidates having qualifying degree from the University of Kalyani and having their latest registration under the University of Kalyani.)

2. There shall be an entrance examination conducted by each Department for admission of 40% candidates from other Universities and University of Kalyani

3. For 60% candidates of Home University, selection will be based on marks obtained in the Honours subject and in order of merit.

4. There shall be no 60-40% reservation in Post Graduate subjects which are not offered as an Honours subject at the Under Graduate level by the University of Kalyani or by its affiliated Colleges.

Reservation of Seats

1. Reservation of seats for SC and ST candidates: In accordance with the policy of the Government of West Bengal, 22% of seats in each course will be reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and 6% for those belonging to the Scheduled Tribes.

2. Reservation of seats for OBC candidates: In accordance with the policy of the Government of West Bengal, 17% of the seats in each course are reserved for OBC (non-creamy layer category) candidates [10% for OBC(A)and 7% for OBC(B)].

3. Reservation of seats for the physically challenged candidates: 3% of seats of approved intake in each category (SC/ST/OBC/General) in each course are provided as seats for the physically challenged candidates having minimum degree of disability to the extent of 40% provided that their physical disability does not come in the way of pursuing the course.

4. Sports Quota: The University provides a sports quota of 1 seat per course in Post-Graduate courses.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should possess a three years Undergraduate Honours Degree following the 10+2+3 system.

Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics,Physiology, Statistics, Zoology M.Sc. Biochemistry B.Sc (Hons) in Chemistry/ Biochemistry/Physiology/Zoology with Chemistry as a pass subject from any UGC recognized University. M.Sc. Biophysics B.Sc (Hons) in Physics /Chemistry from any UGC recognized University. M.Sc. Environmental B.Sc. (Hons) in any of the following disciplines: Botany, Science Zoology, Physiology, Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Geography and Environmental & Water Management. M.Sc. Molecular B.Sc(Hons) in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Chemistry Biology & , Physiology, Botany , Zoology for 60% category and any of the Biotechnology following subjects: Molecular Biology and Biotechnology / Molecular Biology/Biotechnology/Botany / Chemistry/ Physiology / Microbiology / Zoology / Biochemistry for 40% category, with at least 50% marks in the Honours subject. Honours graduate other than Chemistry shall have Chemistry as a pass subject. M.Sc. Geography B.A.(Hons) or B.Sc(Hons) in Geography from any UGC recognized University. M.Sc. Environmental Candidates must having science stream in Higher Secondary Management Level (10+2) Honours/Equivalent graduates in Science (Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Nutrition, Environmental Science, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biophysics; Microbiology, Anthropology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science), Social Science (Geography, Economics) and Applied Science (Agricultural Science, Horticulture, Sericulture, Fisheries Science, Aquaculture Management, Veterinary Science). Mode of selection: B.Sc. (Hons) (40%), admission test (50%) and H.S. or its equivalent examination (10%). Qualifying marks for admission is 50% of the total.

M.TechEnvironmental (i) For candidates having M.Sc. Degree preceded by B.Sc. (Hons) Management in the subjects mentioned above: Mode of selection: M.Sc. (20%), B.Sc. (Hons) (20%), admission test (50%) and H.S. or its equivalent examination (10%). (ii) For candidates having B.E./B.Tech. Degree: Mode of selection: B.E./B.Tech. (40%), admission test (50%) and H.S. or its equivalent examination (10%).

MRDM B.A.(Hons)/ B.Sc(Hons)/ B.Com ( Hons) in any subject from any UGC recognized University with at least a second class. MA/M.Sc. Education Honours degree in Education OR B.Ed followed by M.A. / M.Sc / M.Com Master of Library and Category A: Bachelor Degree with Honours or its equivalent in Information Science Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. (MLISc) Category B: Bachelor Degree with Honours or its equivalent in Science, Technology and allied subjects including B.E., B.Tech, MCA, MBA, BCA, BBA.
