The Marysville Exempted Village Board of Education met on the above date with the following members present: Jeffrey Mabee, Scott Johnson, Roy Fraker and John Freudenberg. Member Thomas Brower was absent.

CALL TO ORDER

President Jeffrey Mabee called the September 24, 2009 meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

RESOLUTION NO. 09-09

WHEREAS, This Board of Education in accordance with the provisions of law has previously adopted a Tax Budget for the next succeeding fiscal year commencing July 1st, 2009; and

WHEREAS, the Budget Commission of Union County, Ohio, has certified its action thereon to the Board together with an estimate by the County Auditor of the rate of each tax necessary to be levied by this Board, and what part thereof is without, and what part within, the ten mill tax limitation; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, By the Board of Education of the Marysville Exempted Village School District, Union County, Ohio, that the amounts and rates, as determined by the Budget Commission in its certification, be and the same are hereby accepted; and be it further

MARYSVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY APPOINTMENTS

Mr. Fraker moved, seconded by Mr. Johnson to appoint Marysville Public Library secretary and trustee. All library positions are appointed by the public school Board of Education as prescribed in the Ohio Revised Code.

a) Appoint Rebecca Wever as secretary to the Trustees, to finish the remainder of Eileen Tuttle’s term, to begin immediately and expire December 31, 2010.

b) Appoint Deral Rackley to a seven-year term on the Marysville Public Library Board of Trustees, effective January 1, 2010.

AWARD CLASSIFIED CONTRACT

Mr. Fraker moved, seconded by Mr. Freudenberg to award a two-year limited contract to Eran Thompson as mechanic, effective September 14, 2009-June 30, 2011.

Employment is expressly conditioned upon receipt of the employee’s BCI report, and completion of the declaration required by Ohio Revised Code Section 2909.34, and will be immediately terminated without resort to Ohio Revised Code Section 3319.16 should such report indicate a prohibited conviction or unsatisfactory completion of the declaration.

SUPPLEMENTAL CONTRACTS

Mr. Freudenberg moved, seconded by Mr. Mabee to employ certificated and non-certificated individuals in supplemental positions for the 2009-10 school year, on an as-needed basis. Each recommendation is being made in accordance with Section 3315.53 of the Ohio Revised Code and Chapter 3301-27 of the Ohio Administrative Code.

Employment is expressly conditioned upon receipt of the employee’s BCI report, and completion of the declaration required by Ohio Revised Code Section 2909.34, and will be immediately terminated without resort to Ohio Revised Code Section 3319.16 should such report indicate a prohibited conviction or unsatisfactory completion of the declaration. Employment is also contingent upon completion of CPR training and Sports Medicine as required by the State of Ohio.

IMPRACTICALITY OF SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION

Mr. Mabee moved, seconded by Mr. Johnson to grant payment in lieu of transportation to Alison Boggs for her children Frances and Keith Boggs from their home to an out of district school, effective for the 2009-10 school year. It is our opinion that it is impractical to provide the required transportation. Thus, the family is entitled to payment in lieu of transportation at the completion of the 2009-10 school year. Reimbursement may not exceed the average per pupil cost of transportation by all Board’s of Education in the state during the preceding year.

AGREEMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE HI-POINT SCHOOL OF NURSING PROGRAM

Mr. Johnson moved, seconded by Mr. Mabee to approve the contract between the Marysville School District and the Nancy J. Knight School of Nursing at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center. This contract is for the period October 2009-2012. The purpose of this cooperative venture is to enhance and improve the educational opportunities available for Marysville High School students. (Refer to 2009-10 Supplemental Minutes, Item #18, 9/24/09)
