10th April 2018 Information MSK Physiotherapy & Orthopaedic CATS across Doncaster co-location into MSK Hubs. Further to the communications from Doncaster CCG (supported by LMC and Primary Care Doncaster) regarding moving services closer to patients homes (8.12 2017), the MSK physiotherapy and orthopaedic CATS service are now aiming to move into community hubs from 2nd July 2018 Why Change? The MSK physiotherapy service has delivered a large number of clinics to over 30 GP practices over a number of years, but rising demand, challenges in staffing cover, and challenges in maintaining consistent access times has made this unsustainable in the long term. There has been an inequity of service, which we need to address, and from our discussions with Doncaster CCG Clinical Review Group and the LMC, the proposal to move to a hub model, offers a sustainable and more equitable service for the future. We want to be able to ensure that patients can access our services when needed, and that they receive the best quality of care when they do. It is planned to co-locate the orthopaedic CATS to also provide more senior clinical leadership and supervision for our staff, as well an opportunity to streamline patient pathways. The move to hubs is something that our partners in Sheffield and other areas of the Integrated Care System have adopted for similar reasons and with positive outcomes. WPR11997 Jan 2017 What does it mean for me and my patients? We have worked with the CCG to identify suitable venues that do not incur additional costs to the service, but aim to service the localities in the best way possible with existing estates. We realise that this will mean for some patients there may be more travel and for others less. The following venues for hubs have been identified:- Central Sandringham Road / DRI North Askern White Wings Centre East Vermuyden Centre, Thorne South Martinwells centre Edlington/ Mexborough Montague Hospital Services in these hubs will run Monday – Friday (mornings and afternoons in the initial phase). MSK physiotherapy and CATS services which currently run in other venues across Doncaster will cease (practices will be given dates of when services will cease imminently). We have undertaken staff and patient engagement during the process and are continuing to gain public and patient feedback on our services, to inform this development. We have gained feedback from key GP leads through the CCG clinical review group and LMC. We will continue with stakeholder engagement during and after this process, to shape the services in the most appropriate way. What Now? We would like an opportunity to meet and discuss the hub model and answer any queries you may have. We have liaised with Doncaster Primary Care and Doncaster CCG to explore which forums we can attend to support discussions.
