Yearbook of Automobile Sport. Motorsport Ireland (MI) reserves the right to add, delete or alter these rules, regulations and definitions. Notice of any such amendments will be published in the official Motor Sport Bulletin and/or on the MI website: www.motorsportireland.com which will have the same force as these General Competition Rules and their appendices. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THESE RULES ARE READ IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE REGULATIONS AND DEFINITIONS IN THE APPENDICES TO THIS YEARBOOK Effective 1st January 2016 This 2016 Edition supersedes all previous editions. As usual a lot of detailed work and attention has been applied to ensure the content of the new yearbook is accurate and laid out in a manner that is clear in it’s meaning and easy to work with. Thank you to all of the different committees and other contributors that made this possible. As normal some changes will occur during the year and these will flagged as they happen in the motorsport bulletins and on the MI website. These together with other useful information can be found on www.motorsportireland.com 2015 was a very busy year at Motorsport Ireland. Early in the year we published our Strategic Plan 2015 – 2017. I would like to thank all those who worked many hours, and attended many meetings, to bring this project to publication. Also a sincere thank you to the many delegates that attended, and contributed to, the various regional meetings that took place around the coutry. I feel that it is very important that we plan our future, because like many other aspects of life, motorsport keeps on growing and changing. I would encourage clubs and indeed all our members to read the plan and contribute in whatever way you feel possible to it’s implementation. As part of the plan we appointed a Sports Developement Officer, Art McCarrick, to work with the clubs to further develope our sport. This is the first time we ever had someone working full time in this role, and we feel it is a very important part of the plan. I want to pay tribute to the many people who work very hard to help organise our sport. So many people give of their time freely as volunteers to work on the ground, attend many meetings, and generally contribute to the delivery of a safe and enjoyable sport. I also want to thank all those on the different discipline committees who give so much of their time to grow their particular branch of the sport, and for the experience they bring to it. I would like to emphasise the importance that motorsport plays in the developement of road safety today. It is recognised by the FIA and throughout motorsport internationally that every club can play a very important role locally in many different ways. Here I want to compliment the many clubs and competitors who have got involved with their local schools, and organised information days, social evenings etc. It is very important to show publically how much work we do to ensure safety in all aspects of our sport. As always we continue to develope the Motorsport Ireland website, and a lot of effort is applied to keep information fresh, relevant and up to date. As a sport we have a brilliant forum for discussion and debate in the Competition Advisory Committee meetings, and I would sincerely ask all clubs to ensure that you are represented at these meetings. They are the perfect conduit between the Motorsport Ireland office, committees and the grassroots of the sport, and I would like to see these further develope in the future. Congratulations to all those competotors who have done so well in competitions during 2015 and it is always a pleasure to see Ireland doing well on the international front in addition to our strongly performing home champioships. We would like to thank the Irish Sports Council and the Road Safety Authority for their continued help and support, and we are always working to improve these important links. I would like to compliment Alex Sinclair and the office staff for all the good work that they do for the sport and cost containment is a very important part of that work. We hope to continue this through 2016, and I would encourage everyone to help to ensure our sport prospers in the future. Here’s hoping you all have a safe, enjoyable and successfull 2016.
