  • The Look Man Report 2006 Week XX: Ponies, and Bengals, and Bears, Oh My!
The Look Man Report 2006 Week XX: Ponies, and Bengals, and Bears, Oh My! “We’re not giving away any football players who could hurt us later. I don’t mind people thinking I’m stupid, but I don’t want to give them any proof.“ - Bum Phillips, Houston Oilers coach OPENING OA (Bum) Phillips is the football equivalent of Yogi Berra, and the above quotation could be just as applicable to Chowds head coach Bill Belichick. Dr. Evil narrowly missed a fourth championship after jettisoning LB Willie McGinest, WR Deion Branch and K Adam (Money) Vinatieri. On Sunday, the chickens came home to roost, as Money contributed to an incredible comeback win by the Indianapolis Ponies. As the 2006 NFL season makes its final turn, the Look Man is thrilled to have witnessed some incredible action. The Conference Championships were simply the crowning glory to a season that saw New Orleans rise from the ashes of a 3-13 season to nearly represent the NFC in the Bowl. The Ponies overcame the weight of expectations, becoming this season’s version of the Blitzburgh Stillers down the stretch. Chicago has parlayed a ball-hawking defense and streaky QB into a championship run in the weak NFC. New England nearly reclaimed its championship ways despite an injury depleted defense and a receiver challenged offense. It has been a season for the ages and Sunday did not disappoint. Meanwhile, the rest of the league keeps on turning. Cincinnati had its ninth player arrest of the season. Bill (Tuna) Parcells decided to promote Grecian Formula instead of coaching the melodrama in Allas (no D).

  • Championship Round
New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton Monday, January 22, 2007 Opening Statement: Despite our late arrival from Chicago due to the weather conditions, it was unbelievable to see the turnout at the airport and the number of people who waited. It was cold. The reception we received from the fans was representative of the reception we received all season from them. We are grateful for it. Their resolve and loyalty to this team is certainly felt in the locker room and throughout the organization. We appreciate that. I know the players, coaches and everybody on that flight that stepped off the plane and drove through the streets of people were impressed and grateful. I want to thank the fans for all of their support this season. I said last night as the season’s finished now, this game will take a while to get over, but there is a still a lot of work and a long ways to go for this region. However in living here for a year, the resolve of the people in this area is unparalleled. It’s important that they know it’s not going to be easy, but over a period of time this city will be better than it ever was. I thank the fans on behalf of the team and the organization. We look forward to getting back in that game and getting into the biggest game of them all. It’s not easy. We’re starting our work in the off-season here. I just read where Bill Parcells retired. I think it’s only appropriate in my case to thank a guy who’s a Hall of Fame coach and one of the best coaches that’s ever worked in our league.

  • It Would Be Folly to Say That the Brand of Defense Being
But make no mistake: it would be folly to say that the brand of defense being played and administered by coordinator Bob Sutton has any chance to help the Jets be successful if they do get to the playoffs. They are beyond being in need of a ‘Get Well Soon” card. Sutton isn’t coming anywhere near getting the most out of the players’ abilities. And if he doesn’t take some chances and find a way to mix up his play calls to give his players an opportunity to gain some confidence, it won’t really matter. The Jets will not have any chance to make a run at or into the postseason. As for the offense, authentic nhl jerseys cheap, anyone who tries to imply that Brett Favre was a key reason for yesterday’s close call wasn’t paying attention. Was he perfect? No. But once again, Favre got the team out of the gate fast. He was on his way to leading the Jets to a third consecutive scoring drive — they were leading, youth nfl jersey, 14-3,nike nfl deal, in the second quarter — when a weird bounce resulted in an interception that put the Bills back in business. And the fallout from that resulted in wackiness that continued for the rest of the game. The bottom line: the Jets are 9-5. They are tied for first place and hold all tie-breaker advantages. Getting to this stage of the season with the chance to win a division title is never easy. If this team can’t coach its best or play its best in the next two weeks and possibly beyond, authentic college football jerseys, osu football jersey, then it will have made the season a waste of time.
