In the same season reached the final of the Saporta Cup (European competition) against Real Madrid (Coach Obradovic) and semifinal vs. Benetton (Coach Mike D’antoni). Voted coach of the Year in Italy. Re-signed in Verona for the 97/98 season; Korac Cup (European competition) winner.
