June 2018

Dear Car Club Member

The Epping Revival will take place on 6th & 7th July 2019 at Historic North Weald Airfield.

The event will take the form of an automotive and aviation revival reflecting and recreating the airfield’s heyday. We are looking to create a first class line-up of exhibits for a discerning audience to enjoy and believe that you may wish to exhibit your vehicle.

As well as the classic vehicle displays, demonstrations and activities, there will be a static display of heritage aircraft and warbirds representing the various eras of the airfield. North Weald is home to a number of classic aircraft including Spitfire, Mustang, Folland Gnats, Vampire, Jet Provosts and more and these, plus other visiting aircraft, will be flying in and departing throughout the show. The show will also incorporate re-enactment groups, vintage fashion, period music, a food and drink festival and children’s funfair and activities.

North Weald Airfield in Epping, can trace its roots back to the birth of the RAF: Station North Weald was established in the summer of 1916 during the First World War.

RAF North Weald played a significant role in the Second World War. The Hawker Hurricanes and Supermarine Spitfires of 56 Squadron and American saw action over the beaches of Dunkirk and were in front line service during the .

Pilots of Norwegian Squadrons 331 and 332 when captured were transferred to Stalag Luft III and later, in 1944, played a major role in the Great Escape. At the end of WWII the VE Day victory flypast, led by Sir Douglas Bader, assembled and took off from the airfield.

Today the airfield is home to an original 1927 hangar and Officers Mess, an Airfield Museum and the North Weald Memorial.

North Weald is the last remaining fighter base from the earliest days of the Second World War that remains substantially unchanged from its military days and is still home to warbirds. It therefore makes a fitting backdrop to a new revival show that we believe will become a firm calendar fixture for families and enthusiasts alike. Some airfield images have been included at the end of this letter.

CAR CLUBs

Media 10 is pleased to offer complimentary entrance on the basis of two tickets, for the owner and their guest, of each qualifying vehicle. Places for support vehicles are available dependant on the number and type of classic vehicles brought. Complementary access is restricted to a limited number of vehicles so we ask that you make you intentions know to the organisers, as soon as is practical.

An appropriate area of Hard Standing/Gravel will be reserved for your exclusive use appropriate to the number of cars in your group.

We would be especially happy to discuss and accommodate any special parking facilities/displays that might be required by group or club attendance and we are particularly interested in displaying classic cars with sporting provenance or track history.

We encourage everyone to enter into the spirit of the revival with costume, props and displays appropriate to the era they represent. It may also be an opportunity for the club to sell branded regalia to our visiting enthusiasts.

As part of the show layout, a circuit will be created within the airfield and suitable clubs and vehicles will get the opportunity to parade at an allotted time. There will also be a timed laps competition which will be at a small charge per vehicle.

We will offer evening activities for event participants after the show closes on the Saturday evening. For the convenience of those staying overnight, food and drink will be available as will camping.

Full details and Terms & Conditions will be available on the Car Clubs Booking From.

We look forward to hearing from you if you would like to join us.
