1.0 INTRODUCTION:

The Applicant, Thiru.J.Rajeshkannan S/o. Thiru.K.Jayaraman, residing at No.18, Thummichampatti Village, Taluk, Dindigul district has been applied quarry lease for rough stone located in S.F.No.157/2, 166/6 & 169 , over an extent 1.55.0Hectares Reddiyapatti Village, , Dindigul District, Tamil Nadu. The annual production is proposed as 7298m3 per annum for the period of Five Years. By virtue of its size of lease area, the proposal falls under “B2” category.

Manager will be appointed and he will be provided with suitable communication facilities. Primary Health centre is available in Reddiyapatti for medical emergencies, about 2.5 kms away from the mine.

1.2 Care and Maintenance during temporary discontinuance:

Watch and ward are provided permanently in the Rough Stone premises to monitor the Rough stone openings to prevent inadvertent entry. Top soil bund is made partly and Rough stone fencing is proposed all around lease boundary to safe guard the Rough stone and the adjacent livings. Temporary discontinuance will be minimum as there is enough demand for these materials in tiles industries.

2.0 MINE CLOSURE PLAN

2.1 Steps proposed for phased restoration, reclamation of already mined out areas

Humus top soil shall be used for rehabilitation and afforestation purposes. In case of steep slopes, fencing shall be made to control, inadvertent entry of animals and local persons. The mine out area shall be used for storage of rain water with proper barricade which will help recharge of regional ground water table. No major dumps, however plantation shall be made over small dumps to prevent soil erosion\wash outs and help ecological balance.

2.2 Measures to be under taken on mine closure as per Act & Rules

Fencing shall be made around open cast working as per DGMS circulars with S1 type fencing. Back filling shall be done to a reasonable extent and depth during closure of mine. Green belt development is proposed at a density of 1000 trees per Ha.

2.3 Mitigation measures to be undertaken for safety and restoration / reclamation of the already mined out area

The present ecology shall be preserved during Mine closure by proper terracing and stabilization with plantations.

2.4. Any other details intend to furnish by the applicant:

The rough stone of this area is commercially called as blue metal. But geologically it is a Charnockite rock. The geological reserves and mineable reserves are estimated as 97367m3 and 36491m3 of rough stone respectively for the permissible area up to a depth of 13.5m from the surface. Systematic mining with proper orientation of working faces and blasting techniques will improve safety and eco-friendly environment.

2.5 STATUTORY PROVISIONS:

Provisions of the Mines Act, Rules and Regulations orders made there under shall be complied with, so that the safety of the mine, machinery and persons will be ensured. Permission, relaxation or exemption wherever required for the safe and scientific mining of the deposit will be obtained from the Department of Mine Safety.

Certified that the mining plan has been prepared in accordance with the mine Act, Rules and Regulations and orders made there-under and also in conformity with the provisions of the Granite Conservation and Development Rules, 1999.
