• During Friday’s season-opener, 17 Rams saw their first action in the green and gold uniform: • CSU’s 14-point victory was their largest victory over Colorado since the Rams’ 41-14 victory in 1999. The Buffs’ last score came at the 9:47 mark of the third quarter. After that point, the Rams rattled off 21 unanswered points. • Running back Dee Hart entered the game on the third play, a third-and-14, and rushed for seven yards. In the end, Hart rushed for a career high 139 yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns. Tonight’s two scores were Hart’s second and third collegiate touch- downs. His first came in Alabama’s 49-0 victory over Tennessee-Chattanooga on Nov. 23, 2013. • In the first half, Hart accounted for 72 of Colorado State’s 119 total yards, with 58 coming on the • ground and 14 receiving yards. • Treyous Jarrells, a junior college transfer from Grossmont College, recorded his first rush early in the second quarter, taking the handoff for seven yards. Jarrells was dominant in the second half rushing for over 100 yards before finishing with 121 yards. • The last time Colorado State had two 100-yard rushers in one game was Sept. 28, 2002 at Nevada when QB (128) and Cecil Sapp (125) each eclipsed the 100-yard mark. The last time CSU had two running backs rush for 100 yards in the same game was in 1996, in the Rams’ season-opener against Tennessee-Chattanooga (Jaime Blake - 138, Calvin Branch 127). • Senior quarterback Garrett Grayson became only the third CSU quarterback to defeat Colorado twice in • his career. • The Rams did not get off to the fast start that the coaching staff wanted. In the first quarter CSU could only manage 26 yards of total offense, but over the next three quarters the team racked up 349 yards of total offense. • The Rams rushed for 266 yards, while the Buffs ran for 134. Under McElwain, the Rams are 12-1 when outrushing their opponent. • Head Coach Jim McElwain is the first CSU head coach since Bob Davis to defeat in-state Colorado twice in his first three seasons.

THIS IS COLORADO STATETHIS IS COLORADO colorado state 24 GAME 4 Saturday, Sept. 27 Alumni Stadium Chestnut Hill, Mass. boston college 21 Attendance: 33,632

• The Rams have now rattled off three consecutive victories over teams from Power 5 conferences. CSU began the streak by defeating Washington State in the 2013 New Mexico Bowl. From there the Rams beat Colorado in the 2014 season-opener and Boston College on the road.

• Colorado State is one of only three teams from the Group of 5 conferences that has notched at least one win over a team from the COACHES & STAFF Power 5 conferences in each of the past three seasons (UL-Monroe and Northern Illinois). • With today’s 24-21 win at Boston College the Rams moved to 3-1 on the season, and are 9-3 in their last 12 games, the most suc- cessful 12-game stretch for the program since the 2002 team began the season 10-2. • Today’s CSU win also was unique in two ways: It marked just the second time under McElwain that CSU has won a game in which the opponent outrushed the Rams (239 to 162 today), against 14 losses, and was just CSU’s fourth win under McElwain in a game in which it lost the turnover battle (-1 today), against 10 losses). • The Rams’ today rushed for 162 yards against Boston College, the nation’s 18th-ranked rushing defense entering the game (98.5) and gained 430 total yards against the nation’s 11th-ranked overall defense (273.0).

• Boston College, the nation’s No. 3 rushing offense (336.3) which had logged 452 and 413 rushing yards in its last two games (vs. SEASON OUTLOOK & r OSTER USC and Maine), rushed for 239 today, nearly 100 yards below its season average. • The Eagles boasted the nation’s No. 4 ranking for rushing differential entering today, at 238 yards per game, but managed just a 77-yard margin today, 161 below its average. • Redshirt junior linebacker Cory James recorded two tackles, including two tackles for loss and one sack, during Saturday’s victory. James’ sack late in the fourth quarter moved him up to the 10th-spot on CSU’s all-time sack list. He now has 17.5 career sacks. • The Rams got their second takeaway of 2014 when senior CB Bernard Blake picked off Tyler Murphy early in the fourth quarter. That was Blake’s second interception of his career. His first interception came on the road at Alabama (9/21/13).

On CSU’s first drive, Hart broke off a career-long 53-yard rush, which set up his first rushing touchdown. • Jasen Oden Jr., a converted safety, also ran for a career-high 90 yards, 63 of which came on one rush in the first quarter. His 63- yard scamper was a career-best. • On CSU’s second defensive series, defensive back Preston Hodges recorded his first career interception. The former running back (at Bakersfield CC) returned it 12 yards. • DB Trent Matthews registered his seventh career interception when he ended a Tulsa drive by picking off a pass in the end zone.

Tolver who had 1,785 receiving yards for San Diego State in 2002. • Utah’s All-American return man Kaelin Clay entered the game averaging 16.7 yards per punt return, but the Rams shut him down. Clay finished the game with minus 8 punt return yards.
