Thanks to the support of the Shepherd Group, it has been another bumper year for student volunteering at the University of York. In 2012/13 York Students in Communities and York Students in Schools provided opportunities for over 2000 students to engage with the community equating to about 46,000 hours. Some highlights of the past year, include the development of a new York Students in Schools project with York High and FERA, where students delivered workshops based around the theme of ‘Is there horsemeat in my burger?’ Additionally 8 students offered support to 12 girls at Huntington School, who required the confidence and external support to help them achieve their true potential.
