THE JUDICIAL FIRST CLASS MAGISTRATE'S COURT­I,

SUO MOTU DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION UNDER SECTION 4(1)(b) OF RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT 2005

1. ORGANIZATION, FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

The main function of the Judicial First Class Magistrate's Court­I, Chengannur is the trial and disposal of all cases received by it, in accordance with law. It is vested with the powers of trying cases as shown in the schedule 1 and II to the Code of Criminal Procedure . The Court exercise its jurisdiction in the local limits as defined by the Hon'ble Chief Judicial Magstrate, , from time to time, subject to the control of the Hon'ble High Court of . At present, the Court have jurisdiction over the following Police Stations and Excise Ranges. 1. Chengannur Police Station 2. Mannar Police Station 3. Police Station 4. Chengannur Excise Range 5. Mavelikara Excise Range 6. Railway Protection Force, Chengannur

2. POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE OFFICER AND STAFF:

The Court is presided by the Judicial First Class Magistrate. The Court ordinally sit from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm with an interval not exceeding one hour. The duty of the Court is the trial and disposal of all cases received by it.

The subordinate staff of the Court consist of a Junior Superintendent, 1 Head Clerk, 1 Confidential Assistant, 7 Clerks, 2 Typists, 4 Office Attendants and 1 Part Time Sweeper. The Junior Superintendent is the Chief Ministerial Officer of the establishment and he is responsible for the overall supervision of the staff. The clerks/Typists of the Court are assigned separate sections and they are accountable for all the works in their respective section. The duties of the staff are governed by the relevant acts, rules and circulars issued by the Hon'ble High Court of Kerala.

3. THE PROCEDURE FOLLOWED IN THE DECISION MAKING PROCESS, INCLUDING CHANNELS OF SUPERVISION AND ACCOUNTABILITY.

The First Information Report, Occurrence Report, other reports and Final Reports filed by the Station House Officers concerned and other tapals are received by the Chief Ministerial Officer of the Court and are submitted before the Presiding Officer. Thereafter the records will be distributed to the respective sections for necessary action as ordered by the Presiding Officer.

The channel of supervision in the court is as follows:

4. THE NORMS SET BY THE COURT TO DISCHARGE ITS FUNCTION The functions of this Court are discharged in accordance with the Acts, Rules and Regulations constituted for the purpose. All the functions are discharged under the direct supervision of the Presiding Officer on the priority basis, taking into account the directions and instructions received from the superior courts.

No arrangement exists in this court for consultation with, or representation by, the members of the public in relation to the formulation of policy or implementation there of.

A Committee viz Internal Complaints Committee constituted as per the mandate in Section 4 Sub section (2) of The Sexual Harassment of Women at work Place( Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013. The Committee consist of a Presiding Officer and 4 members.
