Physical fitness in daily life

Physical activity is defined as any bodily movements produced by skeleton muscles that results in energy expenditure. The amount of energy required to accomplish an activity can be measured in kilojoules (kJ) or kilocalories(kcal) . Technically, the kJ is preferred because it is a measure of energy expenditure; how -ever historically the kcal a measure of heat, has been employed more often. Everyone performs physical activity in order to sustain life however the amount of is largely subject to personal choice and may vary considerable from person to person as well as from a given person over time.

• Categories of physical activity;

Physical activity can be categorized in a variety of ways. Four main types of physical activity are aerobic, muscle-strengthening, bone-strengthening and stretching. Aerobic activity is that which benefits your hearts and lu8ngs.

1)Aerobic activities: Aerobic activity’s moves your large muscles, such as those in your arms and legs. Few eg: of aerobic activity are running, swimming, walking, bicycling, dancing. Aerobic activity is also called endurance activity.

2)Muscle-strengthening: Muscle strengthening activities improve the strength, power and endurance of your muscles/. Doing pushup and sit-ups, planks, and digging in garden is a muscle strengthening exercise

3)Stretching: Stretching improves your flexibility and your ability to fully move your joints. Touching your tones, doing side squats, ankle rotation, head rotation, elephant pose, hip-rotation, and doing asanas are example of stretching exercise.

Fit Movement, is a nation - wide movement in which people are encouraged to remain healthy and fit by including physical activities and sports in their daily lives. Fit India was launched on 29th August 2019 by Honourable Prime Minister on birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand with a view to make fitness an integral part part of our daily lives. The mission of the movement is to bring about behavioural changes and move towards a a more physically active lifestyle. In 2020 PM Shri Modi was seen interacting will fitness enthusiast during FIT India dialogue event. Virat Kohli along with Milind soman, and sports minister were also seen.

Main features of it are:

Khel India aims in improving India’s sports culture at the gras-root level through organised talent identification structured sporting competitions and infrastructure development.
