Office of the President The University of Montana Missoula, Montana 59812-3324 Office: (406) 243-2311 FAX: (406) 243-2797 DATE: September 27, 2011 TO: Executive Committee, Council of Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors, and Chairs FROM: Royce C. Engstrom, President SUBJECT: Fiscal Year 2012 Operating Budgets I have completed my review of the operating budgets for each of the affiliated campuses of The University of Montana. The campuses have implemented budgets for FY2012 that are balanced, prudent, and consistent with the strategic goals of the Montana University System Board of Regents and with the strategic plans of each campus. While the Montana University System as a whole experienced a reduction in appropriation from the 2010- 2011 level, we were all challenged by some fixed cost and inflationary increases (most notably in technology and library resources) as well as the critical need to provide at least some modest compensation adjustments for faculty and staff. At the same time, a combination of positive factors helped us mitigate these issues. First, each of our campuses continues to experience enrollment growth. Each campus took proactive measures in the biennium just completed, not only to find operating efficiencies, but to continue and even redouble our efforts to improve enrollment and student success. These efforts are bearing fruit, as evidenced by continued resident enrollment growth on all four campuses and improved nonresident enrollment at the campuses in Missoula, Butte, and Dillon, along with—more importantly—marked improvement in student success at all four campuses. Second, the Board of Regents approved modest tuition rate increases for FY12 and FY13.

June 18, 2018, Issue 606 Inside View: CMT Music Awards Two weeks ago, CMT GM Frank Tanki noted the network’s larger CMA Fest footprint (CAW 6/4) – one that CMT Music Awards viewers may have noticed extended to the show itself. With multiple offsite performances and a venue home unaffected (sadly) by the hockey playoffs, this year’s event focused on new music and earned stable audience numbers (CAT 6/7). CMT VP/Music Events Margaret Comeaux walked Country Aircheck through putting the show together. MC: Obviously he’d been here quite a few years, and under his leadership or Frank Tanki’s, our team does what it does. We rally, do our part and just come together to get the job done. For Immediate Release For More Information Kristi Olds (860) 989-7623 Connecticut REALTORS, iHeartMedia and WTNH News 8 Team Up to Help Combat Opioid Use Disorder in Connecticut Four-Time GRAMMY Award Winner Keith Urban to Headline Opioid Awareness Concert at Mohegan Sun Arena Hartford/New Haven, CT (September 23, 2019) — Every day, at least two people in Connecticut die from an opioid overdose. Connecticut REALTORS, iHeartMedia and WTNH News 8 are teaming up to help reduce that staggering number. Today marks the start of a multi-month campaign to raise money and build awareness surrounding Connecticut’s opioid crisis. The campaign will air on all media platforms including television, radio, digital and social media. The highlight of the campaign will be a concert headlined by Academy of Country Music & Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year Keith Urban titled “A Concert for Recovery” at Mohegan Sun Arena on Sunday, November 17th. “CT REALTORS is committed to bettering our communities,“ said Dan Keune, 2019 President, CT REALTORS. “Whether it’s through disaster relief, food drives or volunteer efforts, our members are there. We are honored to partner with iHeartMedia and WTNH News 8 for this important effort to help reduce the stigma of opioid use disorder.” Michael Barbaro, Chair of the CT REALTORS Opioid Awareness Work Group, added, “Our hope is so much bigger than this concert. We want to make a significant impact in the way people view opioid use disorder, and remove the stigma directed at those who suffer from addiction. We can’t stay on the sidelines while so many people in our communities are suffering.” Specifics of the campaign will include public service announcements presented by local and national celebrities that speak to those seeking options and information on recovery, newscast stories and radio interviews that highlight individuals impacted by Connecticut’s opioid crisis and their road to recovery and a one-hour special television broadcast that includes highlights from Keith Urban’s “A Concert for Recovery”.

  • Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: an Analysis Into Graphic Design's
Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres by Vivian Le A THESIS submitted to Oregon State University Honors College in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Honors Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting and Business Information Systems (Honors Scholar) Presented May 29, 2020 Commencement June 2020 AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF Vivian Le for the degree of Honors Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting and Business Information Systems presented on May 29, 2020. Title: Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres. Abstract approved:_____________________________________________________ Ryann Reynolds-McIlnay The rise of digital streaming has largely impacted the way the average listener consumes music. Consequentially, while the role of album art has evolved to meet the changes in music technology, it is hard to measure the effect of digital streaming on modern album art. This research seeks to determine whether or not graphic design still plays a role in marketing information about the music, such as its genre, to the consumer. It does so through two studies: 1. A computer visual analysis that measures color dominance of an image, and 2. A mixed-design lab experiment with volunteer participants who attempt to assess the genre of a given album. Findings from the first study show that color scheme models created from album samples cannot be used to predict the genre of an album. Further findings from the second theory show that consumers pay a significant amount of attention to album covers, enough to be able to correctly assess the genre of an album most of the time.

UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI DATE: May 15, 2003 I, James Gilbert Jenkins , hereby submit this as part of the requirements for the degree of: Master of Architecture in: The Department of Architecture of the College of DAAP It is entitled: New World Trade Approved by: Michael McInturf Arati Kanekar NEW WORLD TRADE A thesis submitted to the Division of Research and Advanced Studies of the University of Cincinnati in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF ARCHITECTURE In the Department of Architecture Of the College of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planing 2003 by James G. Jenkins B.S., University of Cincinnati, 2001 Committee Chair : Michael Mcinturf Abstract In these Modern Times, “facts” and “proofs” seem necessary for achieving any credibility in a field where there is a client. To arrive at a “truth,” many architects quickly turn to a dictionary for the final “truth” of a word, such as “privacy” or to a road map to find the “truth” in site conditions, or to a census count for the “truth” of people migration. It is, of coarse, part of the Modern Crisis that many feel the need to go with the way of technology, for fear that Architecture might otherwise fall by the wayside because of its perceived irrelevancy or frivolousness. Following this action, with time, could very well reduce Architecture to a form of methodology and inevitably end with the replacement or removal of the profession from its importance- as creators of a “Truth.” The following thesis is a serious reclamation. The body of work moves to take back for Architecture its power, and specifically it holds up and praises the most important thing we have, but in modern times have been giving away: Life.
