The park first opened in the summer of 2017 and Zamperla was involved in both the first and second phases of the construction, supplying the venue with three highly themed attractions. One of these was a Magic Bikes, a popular, interactive family ride which sees participants use pedal power to make their vehicle soar into the sky. Also provided was a Disk’O Coaster, a ‘must have’ ride for every park and a best seller for Zamperla which combines thrills and speed to provide an adrenalin-filled experience. The third attraction was a Tea Cup, which incorporates triple action to create a fun and exciting experience, coupled to a high hourly capacity. And now Zamperla has also supplied an Energy Storm to the park, featuring five sweep arms which rotate upwards and flip riders upside down while also spinning. -

He took a chance on me and endured some of my roughest stories, especially during my first semester, where I realized that I had a lot of work to do. He was instrumental in my growth as a reader and writer. Warmest thanks to Robert Pope, professor emeritus from the University of Akron. He is, without question, one of happiest professors and individuals I have ever known. His contagious personality and encouragement went a long way in my first few semesters, as well as his honest feedback and suggestions. He once said I wrote a “beautiful essay” about a story we had read, and that comment meant so much. He has meant so much. Warmest thanks Eric Wasserman, professor at the University of Akron, as well as my thesis director. -
Real World Performance Tasks
Cedar Point Real World Performance Tasks Real World Real Life, Real Data, Real-Time - These activities put students into real life scenarios where they use real-time, real data to solve proBlems. In the Relationship Status series, we use data from theme parks and update our data regularly. Note - some data has been rounded or simplified in order to adjust the math to the appropriate level. Engaging Relevant – Students today are familiar with and enjoy amusement park rides, making these activities very relevant to children’s everyday lives. To pique their interest further, try asking the Your Challenge question to the class first. Authentic Tasks - Through these activity sheets students learn how the amusement park industry works and are prompted to form opinions and ideas about how they would solve real life proBlems. A glossary is included to help them with the unfamiliar terms used. Student Choice - Each set of activity sheets is available in multiple versions where students will do the same activities using data for different amusement parks (e.g., Busch Gardens, Hershey Park, Six Flags, etc.) You or your students can pick the location that most interests them. Modular Principal Activity - The activity sheets always start with repeated practice of a core skill matched to a common core standard, as set out in the Teacher Guide. This principal activity (or Level 1 as it is labeled to students) can Be used in isolation. This should generally take around 10-15 minutes. Step Up Activity - For the Level 2 questions, students are required to integrate a different skill or set of skills with increasing complexity. -

Physics Activity Sheet
Physics activity sheet Note: These questions are designed to engage students in some qualitative and quantitative analysis of the application of physics concepts at an amusement park. Since each question requires them to essentially design a methodology for developing a solution to the question, students may approach any particular question differently. As a result, there may be several different solutions to the same question and there may be more than one right answer. What if? The log flume is a ride that sends riders down a long slope into a pond, producing a rather large wave. Does the size of the wave depend on the number of people in the car? What happens to the size of the wave if someone large is in the front of the flume? What if someone large is in the back of the flume? What if you wanted to ride the flume and not get wet, where would you sit? Why do they do that? Look at several different roller coasters in the Park and find the ones that have vertical loops. Where in these rides are the loops located (towards the beginning, middle, or end)? Why are they placed there? Are there any roller coasters that are different from the rest in terms of the placement of the vertical loop? When a roller coaster enters a turn, it follows a track that is banked. Why do they bank turns for roller coasters? You may notice that some turns are banked at larger angles than other turns. Why do those turns require a larger angle? How much is that? As a general rule, a roller coaster reaches its maximum speed at the bottom of the first hill. -
Revolutionary Wing Coaster Coming to Six Flags Great America in 2012 First Theme Park in the U.S
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Revolutionary Wing Coaster Coming to Six Flags Great America in 2012 First Theme Park in the U.S. to Announce Plans to Build State-of-the-Art Wing Coaster Gurnee, Ill. – September 1, 2011 – Get ready to take flight! Six Flags Great America announces plans to add a state-of- the-art roller coaster for the 2012 season. X-Flight is a ground-breaking wing coaster featuring cutting-edge technology. The Gurnee theme park is the first to announce plans for a wing coaster in the U.S. X-Flight will take riders on a flight that defies gravity, with no track above or below them. Riders sit in pairs, suspended on either side of the track with their feet dangling, as they begin their climb up a 12-story plunge launching them into speeds of 55mph through 3,000 feet of intense drops and five inversions, including a barrel roll and zero-g roll. One of the most adrenaline-pumping moments on the ride is an extreme fly-through where the coaster speeds straight toward a structure, before making a last-minute vertical flip to fit through a keyhole cut-out. “Six Flags Great America has a long history of introducing legendary rides and first-of-its-kind roller coasters,” said Hank Salemi, Six Flags Great America Park President. “What makes X-Flight so unique is soaring through 3,000 feet of high- speed drops, loops and turns, with nothing above or below you. The coaster’s train actually looks like a plane with seats suspended on either side of the track. -
