1 From Redland Christian Academy...

“I have spent the last year working on that dream softball field for my girls here at Redland Christian Academy. I will never forget the Marlins and the contribution they made as I began to watch my dream unfold. My girls will always know who the first to step up was. Since your initial contribution to the field I have secured numerous other donations. Had it not been for the initial donation from the Florida Marlins Community Foundation this dream would have never gotten off the ground and we would not be where we are today. We have never had the ability to have a home game here at Redland Christian Academy due to not having the facilities, but I am proud to say that on March 1st we will be having our first home game. Since the field has been put in, Redland Christian Academy has now formed a Boys Varsity Baseball team with more than 30 boys participating. Again, I can never express how much you have helped make this dream come true for these ladies. Thank you so much for your support!!” - Clyde Meredith Redland Christian Academy

Be enchanted by renowned international and local storytellers; meet storybook characters; enjoy giant puppets theatre, music, dancing, crafts and much more! Everyone is welcome and admission is free. Visit www.mdpls.org for complete details.

The Art of Storytelling is an innovative program created by the Miami- Dade Public Library System to highlight the important role that storytelling plays in education, culture and entertainment, and to encourage the use of this art form by educators, parents and caregivers. Since 2000, the library system has partnered with other libraries, in Jamaica, Ghana, Ireland, the Bahamas, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Trinidad, Brazil, France, Colombia, Canada, and in 2010 Argentina, to explore the creative ways in which storytelling is used in various cultures. These partnerships have allowed the library system to introduce residents to some of the world’s finest storytellers, authors, musicians, dancers and cultural icons.

The Art of Storytelling plays a vital role in enriching the lives of residents by encouraging them to embrace their diversity and to share their culture and history through storytelling. Each year, the library system offers a series of storytelling workshops for adults, storytelling camps for children, and an International Festival, attended by thousands, at the Miami-Dade Cultural Plaza.

5 Why I Donate to the Sixto and his daughter get ready to enjoy a Marlins Community Foundation: father daughter day at the ballpark. At a very young age, my Father shared his passion of Baseball with me, while my Mother instilled her enthusiasm of helping others.

For years I have volunteered my time and donated to different organizations within the community. Now that my own daughter is older and demands more of my time, the Florida Marlins and the Florida Marlins Community Foundation are wonderful ways through which I am able to continue to donate to our community, while spending quality time with her.

With my donations through the Foundation, I have seen a great deal of charitable achievements. The Foundation gives grants to over 200 local groups. The Marlins Foundation along with the is involved with the “Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities” (RBI program). Money donated to the foundation also facilitates and increases children’s attendance to the ballpark, which would not have had the opportunity otherwise.

Today, my parents are no longer alive, but their passion lives on within me.
