GETTING TO THE HOTEL

By Air: Dubai International Airport (DXB) is the closest airport to the hotel.

By Taxi/Cab: Taxi charges from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to InterContinental Dubai Marina will vary depending on time of day and traffic but will average at AED 100 per journey.

By Car: For directions from Dubai International Airport to the Hotel by car, please click the following link: Directions. The journey should take around 30-35 minutes.

Parking: Car parking is available. There are 300 car parking spaces on four Basement parking levels, available 24 hours a day. Valet parking is available. The hotel has offered complimentary car parking for all in house guests as well as for MEBC delegates. Car parking spaces are on a first come, first served basis however so please arrive as early as possible in order to be guaranteed a space.

By Metro from Dubai International Airport: From Airport Terminal 1 Metro Station 1, take the MRed Metro towards UAE Exchange Metro Station (47 min (20 stops)· Stop ID: AT11). Get off at Jumeirah Lakes Towers Metro Station 1 and walk about 18min (1.4km) to InterContinental Dubai Maria Hotel. This will cost you around AED 4.10.

Language: Although Arabic is the official language of the UAE, English is the most spoken language in Dubai. You will also find a lot of expatriates who speak Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Tamil, Tagalog, Persian, Chinese, Malayalam, in addition to many other languages.

Time zone: Gulf Time Zone - UTC+04:00

Climate: Dubai weather is characterised by a tropical desert climate with hot, sunny conditions. Much of Dubai's annual rainfall occurs between December to March however temperatures remain warm and despite the expected rainfall, the period of December, January, February and March is considered Dubai's most comfortable period of the year, climactically.

Money/Currency: The UAE unit of currency is Dirham (AED or United Arab Emirates Dirham also commonly abbreviated to Dhs or DH). Major cards are widely accepted by establishments in the UAE but an exchange rate and bank charges will apply.

Voltage: 230V - outlets are quite often controlled by wall switches. They are not always "on". 240V may also be found although 230V is the official voltage. The plug style is three rectangles pins forming a triangle (the same as in the UK).

VISA REQUIREMENTS

The kind of visa needed to enter the UAE depends on several different factors such as your nationality, the purpose of your planned visit and its planned duration. The UAE authorities have taken many steps to make this process as straightforward and easy as possible. Citizens of 39 countries – GCC nationals plus nationals of listed countries – do not require visas prior to arrival.
