Musicians and artists will wow fans from coast to coast with Station to Station

What if the most interesting place in the country was a moving target? For a short period of time, that will be the case as a train, which was recently transformed into a moving kinetic light sculpture to broadcast content, embarks on a coast-to-coast odyssey from Brooklyn, NY, to the Pacific.

Over the course of three weeks in September, renowned artist is connecting leading and underground pioneers in the arts, music, film, food, and literature communities for nine distinct, truly unique, one-night-only experiences blending multiple forms of personal expression together - all in the setting of a historical landmark. Case in point? Legendary Bay Area artist Peter Coffin is constructing his own UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) to fly over The Skyline Drive-In Theater in Barstow, CA, while the likes of , Cat Power, No Age, and Cold Cave perform below.

This public art project, curated by Aitken, is known as Station to Station: A Nomadic Happening and has been made possible by the support of Levi's. Each stop on the line of nine different destinations across the country - including Chicago, Pittsburgh, and - will celebrate site-specific culture and happenings with a revolving set of dynamic creators. Artists will also travel the line and the behind-the-scenes footage of their journey on the train will be broadcast to a global audience.

A short list of artists making an appearance include: Beck, Cat Power, Cold Cave, Dan Deacon, Giorgio Moroder, No Age, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Twin Shadow, Doug Aitken, Allora & Calzadilla, Kathryn Andrews, Olafur Eliasson, Sam Falls, Urs Fischer, Liz Glynn, Ernesto Neto, Kelly Sears, and Josh Smith.

Anyone planning to witness these gatherings in-person can purchase a ticket for $25. Proceeds from sponsorships, partnerships, and ticket sales will benefit the Station to Station Cultural Fund, an organization that supports non-traditional programming at nine partner institutions including the Sundance Institute, SFMOMA, and LACMA. Those unable to attend an event can still contribute to the non-profit here.
