News Update 4/2/15 re: Churchtown Farm,Farm Lane, Saltash PL12 4AR Outline Planning appn. PA14/11376 for up to 25 dwellings
This is a news update following the Meeting on 2/2/15 at The Cecil Arms
If you know anyone else who would like to be on this email list please ask them to contact me. We have lost touch of a few contacts because of changes in email addresses.
3rd February was the last date for submitting objections to the above planning application. Then there were 133 public letters of objection!
Thank you everyone, including Forder residents, for all your fantastic efforts, help and support!
The meeting at the Cecil Arms was well attended. Mr Leslie Rust of Latchbrook Residents Association kindly attended and explained how to formalise our St Stephens Village Community Group. We now have a list of Committee Members below. We are applying to be recognised by Saltash Town Council. We believe they will make a starter grant to help with running costs.
The group's main focus at present is objecting to the planning application above. We believe being a formal group will bring more influence to the planning application. At Monday's meeting, after an update of news to date, Richard Holmes explained about the process of Judicial Review. We may need to request one at a later date if the planning application is approved. More details about Judicial Review will follow then, but at present Richard will establish costs and contacts in case it is needed.
Although there is now a formal organisation everyone who lives in St Stephens is a welcome member of St Stephens Village Community Group and everyone's opinions are welcome. Please tell any of the Committee if you would like bring anything to our attention
Next Monday, 8th February all the Committee Members are invited to The Cecil Arms at 7.30 for a short meeting to run through the constitution and discuss issues arising. Please contact them if you would like to.

What happens next about the Planning Application
There is currently a provisional date of Monday, 2nd March, 2015 2.00 pm, for the Churchtown Farm Planning Application to be decided by East Sub-Area Planning Committee. They will either approve or refuse it. There is also the possibility of a costly Appeal procedure after this but we hope this will not happen.
This meeting is open to the public. We hope that some of the many people who are interested in the future of the application will come to support Richard Holmes and listen to our Council reach its decision. Richard is only allowed to speak and object for 3 minutes. The Committee then discuss the case in public and reach a decision. . St Stephens Village Community Group will be delighted to welcome all other objectors to join them in Liskeard. Please email me if you would like a lift or can give lifts and I will try to arrange them. Venue: Council Chamber, Cornwall Council, Luxstowe House, Liskeard, PL14 3DZ
Contact: Rowena Brebner, Democratic Officer, 01208 893341 (Committee Secretary)
What can we do now?
Before the Planning meeting we would like as many objectors as possible to send an email or letter to each of the Planning Committee County Councillors telling them why you are objecting to the planning application. Maybe we can wear them down! If you do not have computer access perhaps you could focus on Saltash Councillors, Austin, Holley and Ellison….you could drop the letters at Saltash Guildhall to save post. Or maybe try a phone call!
We are going to try to ensure the Planning Committee Members receive a regular stream of emails and letters. This will make sure they are fully aware of the strength of feeling about the planning application. It would be really helpful if readers of this email could do the following. If your surname begins A-G write between 8/2-15/2 H-N write 16/2-22/2 and N-Z write 23/2-28/2. If you miss these dates do not worry, but please write anyway!
Important. We have been advised that protests are remembered by readers better if they are no more than one side of a page and set out as a list of short bullet points!
Please send a copy of your email to Sheryll Murray our MP for her attention [email protected]
If using post send Mrs Murray's to the House of Commons, Westminster, London
