Monday – Thursday, June 15-18 Wesleyan Christian Academy Men’s Soccer Come join the Legacy… Monday – Thursday, June 15-18 Soccer Camp: ages 5 - 12 Mon. - Thurs. 8:30 am - 12 noon Soccer School: ages 13 – 18 Mon. - Thurs. 5 - 9 pm, under lights Wesleyan Soccer School & Camp Philosophy: The goal of the Wesleyan Soccer Camp (ages 5 – 12) and Wesleyan Soccer School (ages 13 -17) is to offer high quality soccer in a fun, positive, Christian environment. The Wesleyan Soccer School strives to develop the technical, tactical, and spiritual dimensions of each participant. Coaches will demonstrate a high level of soccer understanding and will model a Christian lifestyle. 13 NCISAA 3A State Champions Scott Reitnour – Camp Director: In Reitnour’s 12-year 1984, 1988, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, tenure at Wesleyan Christian Academy, the Men of Troy have 1995, 1998, 2005, 2011, 2012, 2014 posted a 221-47-28 record (335-92-43 overall), captured 6 PACIS Conference Titles, enjoyed 6 state finals appearances, won 4 state State Championship Appearances championships (05, 11, 12, 14), recorded a 42-match winning 19 streak & been ranked as high as #1 in the country. Coach Reitnour Conference Championships was selected to coach in the 2012 HS All-American game; served 5 19 years as NCISAA 3A Boys Soccer chair; earned recognition as PACIS COY 6 NSCAA top-ten National Rankings times; NCSCA 3A Private School Regional COY 4 times; NC State COY 4 times; 5 NSCAA South Regional COY 3 times & been a finalist for NSCAA National COY 3 times. Coach Reitnour holds his NSCAA National & Advanced National Amassed 500+ wins in the last 31 seasons Diplomas & has helped over seventy players move on to enjoy outstanding 542-157-65 since 1982 professional and college careers at the Division 1, 2, 3 & NAIA levels. In addition Collegiate Soccer Players to his duties at Wesleyan Academy, Reitnour coaches with the Piedmont Triad 70-plus Football Club, where he earned recognition as NSCAA Mondo Atlantic Regional (UNC-Chapel Hill, Wake Forest, UNC- COY and was a finalist for NSCAA/Mondo National COY in 2009. In addition to Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Bryan, his duties with Wesleyan & PTFC, Reitnour led the Kings Warriors to a second Campbell, UNC-G, High Point, place conference finish and the PDL Fair Play award in 2014. Reitnour also runs Appalachian, Houghton, Mobile, Messiah, Imago Dei Soccer Academy, a technique & agility school for competitive soccer Milligan, Lees Mcrae, Louisburg, Montreat, players & goalkeepers. Harry Sherwood – Varsity Girls Soccer Coach & Assistant Boys Coach: Harry Sherwood serves as the Varsity Girls Soccer Coach and Varsity Boys Assistant Coach at Wesleyan. Harry joins Wesleyan from Bristol, England. Harry has also served as an Assistant Coach for the Kings Warriors (PDL), as a head coach for Piedmont Triad Football Club, and as a technical instructor for Imago Dei Soccer Academy. Harry played in the PDL for the Kings Warriors during the summers of 2012, 2013 & 2014 and participated in Bridges to the Pros in 2011. Harry served as the captain of the Kings Warriors side, led the team in goals and played every minute of every game in 2012. Sherwood played four years of college soccer at NAIA soccer powerhouse Bryan College from 2008 – 2011, and served as team captain during his junior and senior campaigns. As a Sophomore, Sherwood earned 1st Team All- AAC honors, led Bryan to the AAC Conference championship and the NAIA National Tournament. As a Junior, Sherwood earned AAC POY and 1st Team All-Conference honors, as he led Bryan to the AAC Regular Season Championship, AAC Tournament Championship, into the NAIA Sweet 16 and a final national ranking of #9 in the country. Bennie Bardales - Imago Dei Technician and Staff Coach: Bennie Bardales serves as the MS Boys Soccer Coach and Varsity Boys Assistant Coach at Wesleyan. Bennie also serves as First Team Coach for the PTFC 96 Black team and as a technical instructor for Imago Dei Soccer Academy. Bardales joins the Wesleyan Soccer Program from CD Sula, a professional soccer team that competes in the Honduran 2nd division. Bennie played in the PDL for the Kings Warriors during the summers of 2012, 2013 & 2014, and he served as the captain of the Kings Warriors 2014 side. Bennie also played in the PDL for the Southern California Seahorses (2010 & 2011). Following an outstanding JUCO career, Bardales played college soccer at NAIA soccer powerhouse Bryan College from 2009-2010, where he earned All-conference honors during his junior and senior campaigns. Bardales led Bryan to consecutive AAC Conference championships during the 2009 and 2010 seasons. In 2009, Bennie led Bryan to the AAC Regular Season Championship, AAC Tournament Championship, the NAIA Sweet 16 and a final national ranking of #9 in the country. In 2010, he was the leading goal-scorer for the Bryan Lions. Carter Robbins – Messiah College & Kings Warriors Standout: During his tenure as a players at Wesleyan Christian Academy Carter Robbins served as team captain & earned All-PACIS and All-State honors. Carter also captained his state finalist PTFC 92 Premier Black team. Carter is a 3-year starter for the Kings Warriors in the Premier Development League of the USL. During his time at Messiah College, Robbins was a 3-year starter. In 2012, he was named First Team All-American by D3Soccer.com, First Team All-Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) & First Team All-Conference. In 2013, Robbins earned Academic All-Conference honors, was selected as an NSCAA All-American and won his 2nd consecutive NCAA National Championship! This year, Carter earned NSCAA 1st team All-American honors. Carter will be joining the Wesleyan Soccer Coaching Staff this Fall! Corbin Waller – Varsity Boys Goalkeeper Coach: Corbin Waller played youth soccer with the PSA Stars before going on to play four years of Division 1 college soccer at the College of Charleston. He was his college's first choice goalkeeper as a senior in 2006, when he led the Southern Conference in total saves (87) and was second in saves per game (4.35); Waller earned 9 shutouts his senior season and was named second team All-South NSCAA. Undrafted out of college, Waller spent a year out of the competitive game before he signed with Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer in March 2008. As a rookie with the Dynamo, Waller displayed great size and amazing reflexes in his first professional season. Waller joined Charlotte Eagles of the USL in 2009, and he made his professional debut on May 22, 2010, keeping a clean sheet in a game against the Real Maryland Monarchs. Corbin coached and ran camp programs with the Charlotte Eagles and was an integral member of the Urban Eagles ministry program. Corbin currently serves as the goalkeeper coach for the Wesleyan Christian Academy Varsity Boys Soccer Team. In addition to his duties at Wesleyan, Corbin serves as a head coach with Piedmont Triad Football Club and as a goalkeeper instructor with Imago Dei Soccer Academy. Bryce Kenny: Varsity Men’s Assistant COACH and Goalkeeping Instructor: Bryce Kenny has served as an assistant coach for the PTFC 96 Black boys NCYSA State Cup Finalist team. Bryce played Division I Soccer at Campbell University for two seasons, where he posted a 0.42 GAA. Bryce was an Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team member. In his collegiate debut and first career start Bryce earned a 1-0 win over #3 North Carolina, recording a season-high 9 saves. Kenny was named A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week and was also named to the All-Tournament team at the Nike Invitational at Richmond University. Bryce Kenny helped Wesleyan Christian Academy to the 3A NCISAA State Championship title in 2005, one year after advancing to the title game in 2004. In his senior year at WCA, Bryce earned all-region and all-area honors; compiled a 0.8 goals-against average, 158 saves and 15 shutouts as Wesleyan Christian Academy posted a 23-3-2 record. Kenny logged 39 shutouts with 417 saves in his four-year prep career. One of three former Wesleyan Christian Academy standouts to play for Campbell University, Bryce was a Presidential Academic Scholarship recipient and a Kenny Potts Memorial Scholarship recipient. Bryce has served as NCYSA Assistant Director of Recreation, Discipline & Appeals, and he currently serves as an Associate with Charles Aris Incorporated. Laura Bradford – varsity boys soccer operations & communications director: Laura Bradford serves as a Physical Education Teacher, Events Coordinator and Soccer Coach at Wesleyan Christian Academy. Laura hails from Long Island, New York where she gained valuable experience coaching middle school soccer, varsity soccer and club soccer. As a youth, she participated in the Olympic Development Program (ODP) for Region I at the state and regional levels. At the college level, she played two seasons at UNC-Greensboro. Coach Bradford holds an NSCAA Regional certification, and she coaches the middle school boy’s soccer team at Wesleyan Christian Academy.

Private funding would go towards the new stadium, while public funding would be used to build a convention center. In March 2012, the state legislature declined to give $2,500,000 for design proposals until a more firm commitment to the project from the City of Baltimore is verbalized. As of February 2013, no verbal commitment had been made. Throughout 2013, the arena will be celebrating its 50th year in existence. NAMING RIGHTS: Baltimore Blast owner and 1st Mariner Bank President and CEO Ed Hale acquired the naming rights to the arena through his company, Arena Ventures, LLC, as a result of a national competitive bidding process conducted by the City of Baltimore.     The Economic Impact of Sports and Sports Events on the Charlotte MSA Economy Prepared by: John E. Connaughton, Ph.D. February, 2012: Final Report The Economic Impact of Sports and Sports Events on the Charlotte MSA Economy Executive Summary The purpose of this report is to analyze and define the economic impact of sports and sporting events on the Charlotte, North Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) economy during 2011. This report consists of seven parts that provide an overview of the sports and sports video economic sector, the methodology used, and a detailed analysis of the economic impact of sports and sports related activities on the Charlotte MSA economy. As recently as 1980 the sports industry had minimal impact on the Charlotte economy. That year Charlotte Motor Speedway only hosted two races in what was then called the Winston Cup Series. Two major professional organizations (NASCAR and AA Baseball) and the three college activities (all NCAA basketball) accounted for only 448,000 in annual attendance. Revenue figures from that period are not available, but an estimate based on published prices suggests that total ticket revenue was less than $6,000,000. Total revenue, including concessions, parking, television, and radio, was under $15,000,000. In 1987 the National Basketball Association awarded an expansion franchise to Charlotte. The Hornets began playing in 1988 and led the NBA in attendance that year. The Hornets went on to achieve a 358 consecutive game sellout record and that opened the door for major professional sports in Charlotte. A National Football League team, the Carolina Panthers, followed in 1995 and began selling out its 72,000 seat downtown stadium in 1996.

The Independence head into Saturday’s game coming off their first win of the season in Saint Louis and a two-goal, United Soccer League (USL) Player of the Week performance from 2016 MVP Finalist Enzo Martinez. ​ ​ Last Saturday’s victory was not only the first win of the season for the Independence, but the first time in franchise history that the team beat Saint Louis. The Independence fell behind early on a José Angulo goal for Saint Louis in the fourth minute. Later in the first half, Enzo Martinez would ​ ​ ​ ​ add an unassisted goal in the eighth minute and the game-winner in the 29th minute assisted by Yann Ekra. ​ ​ With the Independence playing four of the next six home games away and only two league games in the month of May, it will be important for the club to get points early in the season. The next test for the Independence comes against the Rochester Rhinos, who ended the Independence’s season in the first round of the 2016 USL Playoffs. Head Coach Jeffries understands that there will be some emotions carried over from an emotional ​ ​ 3-1 loss that included three red cards for the Charlotte side. Rochester comes into Saturday’s game on a 2-2 draw with New York Red Bulls II, the reigning USL Champions, in their 2017 home opener.

THE TOWN OF MATTHEWS I THE MECKLENBURG COUNTY SPORTSPLEX AT MATTHEWS The Town of Matthews (the “Town”) engaged Brailsford & Dunlavey (“B&D”) in October 2013 to conduct a market analysis and programming study (the “Study”) for the stadium component of the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex at Matthews (the “Sportsplex”). The Study began with an overview of the previous analysis and stadium component recommendations completed by Woolpert, Inc. (“Woolpert”) in 2007. Following this review, B&D completed a series of market and benchmarking analyses that influenced a series of market-based stadium scenarios and associated economic impact projections. The results were shared with the Town Board on November 11, 2013 and January 13, 2014. This memorandum will provide a summary of B&D’s findings as the Town works with Mecklenburg County officials to finalize the Sportsplex Phase II design prior to implementation. The findings contained herein represent B&D’s professional opinions based upon the assumptions and conditions detailed in this report. B&D conducted research using both primary and secondary information sources which are deemed reliable, but whose accuracy cannot be guaranteed.
