Velocisti azzurri in grande spolvero questa mattina agli Europei di atletica in corso a Berlino. Il terzetto Desalu-Howe-Manenti si e' qualificato per le semifinali dei 200 metri. Il leader del primo turno e' Fausto Desalu: il 24enne delle Fiamme Gialle sigla il miglior tempo complessivo con 20.39 (+0.2), una prestazione che costituisce il secondo crono della carriera per il cremonese di Casalmaggiore dopo il 20.31 degli Assoluti di Rieti 2016. In stagione aveva gia' corso un 20.25, ma aiutato dalla brezza di Tarragona (+2.6). All'Olympiastadion, Desalu spinge gia' dalla batteria e poi si lascia andare nei metri conclusivi: "Di solito vado bene in batteria - spiega - ma spesso il mio handicap e' nei turni che contano. Stavolta invece voglio far bene in semifinale. Stasera e' la prova del nove, la finale non e' impossibile pero' bisogna restare con i piedi per terra". Si mette in mostra anche un Andrew Howe sulla via del ritorno: il primatista italiano del lungo debutta con il quarto tempo del riepilogo generale e il secondo posto della sua batteria in 20.60 (+0.1) dietro al belga Robin Vanderbemden (20.50). Avanti anche Davide Manenti: il 29enne torinese dell'Aeronautica ottiene il pass per la semifinale con il terzo posto della batteria (20.70/-0.1) preceduto dal greco Likourgos-Stefanos Tsakonas (20.49) e dal francese Mickael-Me'ba Zeze (20.65).
