hat a wild ride these past eight months have been. W It has challenged us all in so many different aspects, both personally and professionally. I want to thank the Cedar City community for being resilient through this time, and being so supportive of SUU Athletics student-athletes, coaches, and administration. The essential workers in and around Cedar City have been critical in helping the student-athletes and staff survive and thrive during this time. From those that work in healthcare, to those that work at the grocery store, you all have been so incredibly important to keeping the city running. We owe a large debt of gratitude to teachers, law enforce- ment, fire fighters, and so on. I could spend this whole page thanking each person in the city. It was a lot of hard work to get our student-athletes back on campus for the Fall Semester, and the fact that they could return has been a blessing. In Iron County Chrysalis we have over 530 employees, 49 homes, 4 day services, and 140 individuals that we provide 24/7 services to. Managing all of that pre-pandemic was quite the undertaking already, and now since COVID-19 it has added another layer of challenges and opportunities for us all. As the Area Director of Chrysalis Cedar City, I am super grateful to all of our great team members at Chrysalis. I am humbled by their positive attitudes, the time, and the sacrifices both seen and unseen over the past few months. I can’t express how touched and inspired I have been by each of you. I appreciate all who help Chrysalis clients including team members, the families, doctors, emergency responders, and state caseworkers. They have gone out of their way to support and create memories for the individuals we serve. Thank you for all the crafts made, all the hikes taken, all the masks worn and safety pre- cautions taken, all the fun food baked, all the rides given, all of the medical appointments attended, all the games played, all the fishing and camping trips, all the hearts comforted, and all the cool inventive activities provided to our individuals during this pandemic. THANK YOU for your discretionary effort and creating these meaningful memories!!!!!! There is a lot of uncertainty and concern out there about COVID-19 still. We don’t know exactly how this pandemic will continue to affect us all or for how long. When facing adversity people can become fractured with fear or they can unite together to confront the issue. HE. Canyon Creek Services, formerly Canyon Creek Women’s Crisis Center, is a non-profit agency that serves survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and works to prevent these types of violence in our community. Located in Cedar City, CCS serves Beaver, Iron and Garfield counties. CCS is much more than just a shelter. CCS provides comprehensive, free and confidential services including victim advocacy, information and refer- ral, court and medical accompaniment, mental health services, housing advocacy, crisis interven- tion, 24 hour hotline services, safety planning and more. CCS also provides awareness, education and prevention services in order to achieve their vision of “Communities Free of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.” CCS experienced various opportunities and challenges this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following Governor Gary Herbert’s critical “Stay Home, Stay Safe” directive on March 26, 2020, the organization saw a significant increase in the demand for services.
