Particular highlights are Coonawarra reds, while shiraz from the traditional South Australian regions of the Barossa Valley, Clare and McLaren Vale are exceptional. Crammed with typical richness and opulent intensity of fruit, the best ones manage a restraint and elegance which is totally beguiling. Never have Australian winemakers had a better combination of ripe fruit and tannin to work on. While some rain made life marginally more difficult for younger Margaret River vineyards, even the Hunter Valley had an unusually rain-free vintage that helped fashion some classic wines.” – Decanter Donated by Song Jo & Yolita Tjoeng

226 Three Pack of 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon 134 estimated value: $195 1 - bottle Delectus Mutti's Pride Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 1 - bottle Dyer Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 1 - bottle Hanna Bismark Mountain Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 More great Cabernets were made in Napa in 2007 than ever before in California. More than half the nearly 400 new releases earned outstanding marks (90 points or higher) on release. Another 50 were in rarefied air, above the classic 95-point mark. At the time, vintners remarked on the uniform quality of the wines, irrespective of district. Cabernet routinely knocks it out of the park, but 2007 was like an All-Star Game home-run derby. The best 2007s exhibited breathtaking qualities early on, with exceptional depth and purity of flavors. They are led by complex aromas of dark fruit, with spicy overtones, these reds are impeccably balanced and concentrated, with finishes that reveal extra flavor nuances. The vintage offers a range of styles, running the gamut from those that deliver opulent, mouthcoating flavors to those that are more delicate and elegant in character. And nowhere more so than Las Vegas, where, at last count, George Pinot Noirs grace the wine lists of nearly 100 top restaurants (Joel Robuchon, Spago and Picasso to name a few). New York comes close to this number, including iconic spots such as Craft, Marea, and The 21 Club. Closer to home, you’ll find George at BLT Steak, Proof, and The Inn at Little Washington to name a few. Donated by George Wine Company

4 - bottles Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 1997 143 estimated value: $360 “Opaque, dark ruby, with dense rim showing orange tinges. 4 - bottles RdV Vineyards Lost Mountain 2014 201 estimated value: $500 As Thomas Jefferson once said, “No occupation is so delightful to me as the culture of the earth.” It seems only fitting that the RdV founding father and fellow Virginian could sum up so eloquently the essence of the RdV philosophy. They intervene as little as possible in the natural process, letting the earth and the elements come together to create something sublime. All of the fruit that goes into their wine is grown on the estate and shepherded with care from vine to bottle. "The depth and energy immediately apparent in this wine is a signature of the 2014 growing season. The wine enters with a concentration of crisp black fruits coupled with subtle youthful notes reminiscent of a French patisserie. Generously structured, with ample fine grain velvety tannins supporting a long mineral finish, the wine offers immense pleasure now and expect it will for quite some time. It will indeed be a vintage we will follow with great pleasure for years to come." - Winemaker Notes Donated by Lily and Scott Claffee

This was the first planting of Pinot Noir and related varieties in the Willamette Valley, and the first Pinot Gris in America. 251 2 - bottles Château Pontet-Canet 2010 300 estimated value: $600 100 points from Robert Parker! These two perfect wines are “an absolutely amazing wine… this blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot has close to 15% natural alcohol. It comes from one of the few biodynamic vineyards in Bordeaux. An astounding, compelling wine with the classic Pauillac nose more often associated with its cross-street neighbor, Mouton-Rothschild, creme de cassis, there are also some violets and other assorted floral notes. The wine has off-the-charts massiveness and intensity but never comes across as heavy, overbearing or astringent. The freshness, laser- like precision, and full-bodied, massive richness and extract are simply remarkable to behold and experience. It is very easy, to become jaded tasting such great wines from a great vintage, but it is really a privilege to taste something as amazing as this…Is there anything that proprietor Alfred Tesseron is not doing right? Talk about an estate that is on top of its game! Pontet-Canet’s 2010 is a more structured, tannic and restrained version of their most recent perfect wine, the 2009. Kudos to Pontet-Canet!” Donated by Mark Rochon & Page Kennedy

Now grown all over the world and bottled by its varietal name, Chardonnay has achieved a level of branding unlike any other wine. From fresh, crisp and minerally with apple and lemon notes to rich and buttery with tropical fruit overtones, Chardonnay runs the gamut.” - K&L Wine Merchants Donated by Jeffrey J. Rhys is a classic case of one man’s obsession run splendidly amok: Kevin Harvey. The biggest problem with the Rhys wines is that so little is made. Grand cru Burgundy is a high level to try to emulate. But Mr. Harvey is a man with a mission, and the means and determination to get there. “The 2014 Chardonnay Horseshoe Vineyard reveals lots of crushed rock, caramelized white currant, white peach and a distinct saltiness all emerging from the glass.” 95 points - The Wine Advocate “A wine I think is the best vintage to date, the sensational 2014 Pinot Noir Horseshoe Vineyard comes from one of the top sites in all of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Incredibly complex, with layers of sweet black cherries, black raspberries, barnyard, wild herbs and spice, it has medium to full-bodied richness, a pure, impeccably balanced texture and a great finish...” 95 points - The Wine Advocate “Described as the most Sonoma-like of their Pinot Noirs, the 2014 Pinot Noir Family Farm Vineyard comes from clay soils and sees roughly 40% whole clusters and one-third new French oak. This rounded, supple and sexy Pinot Noir has sumptuous aromas and flavors of spiced red fruits, smoked herbs, forest floor and spice. Drink this beauty anytime through 2024.” 91 points - The Wine Advocate Donated by Maureen Nelson

Terry’s viewpoint opens a door to a different world of wine, one that does not disconnect this agricultural ‘product’ from its human and emotional element. While his writing is vivid, colorful, and wildly entertaining (think Monty Python meets George Carlin), the message is clear and essential. You and a guest will enjoy dinner with Terry at a restaurant in Boston, complete with rare wines from Terry's private cellar. Restrictions: Mutually agreeable date. Expires May 2019. 259 6 - bottles Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux Bourgogne 317 Pinot Fin 2009 estimated value: $240

“This wine is made from a blend of different blocks in several villages such as Chambolle- Musigny, Vosne Romanée and Nuits Saint Georges. This wine is called Pinot Fin because the big majority of the vines in these vineyards are still from the old rootstock called like this, which is producing lots of berries which are millerandés (small and very concentrated) and gives to the wine its concentration and complexity.” - Winemaker Notes Donated by Friends of Heart’s Delight

1 - Magnum Joseph Phelps Vineyards Insignia 1997 318 estimated value: $800 100 points from Robert Parker! The 1997 Insignia is “an inky/plum/purple color is accompanied by a stunning bouquet of violets, charcoal, creme de cassis and a hint of toast. Prodigious when it hits the palate with a full-bodied expansiveness, there is not a hard edge to be found in the 1997, only velvety tannins, compelling depth and fruit intensity, and stunning purity. It is a perfect expression of Napa viticulture and wine that should continue to age effortlessly for two decades or more. The 1997 Insignia is a 20,000-case blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot, with 60% coming from estate vineyards and 40% from growers. The alcohol came in at 13.8%.” - Robert Parker In 1974, Joseph Phelps introduced Insignia, “California’s first blend of traditional Bordeaux grapes. Insignia became recognized as an elite Napa cabernet. Many other winemakers followed Phelps Vineyard’s lead, with names like Opus One, Rubicon and Dominus, and cult cabernets eventually used just the name of the producer, like Screaming Eagle or Harlan Estate.” - New York Times Donated by John & Kathy Whatley

This is a beautiful, full-bodied Chardonnay to drink over the next decade or more. Mark Aubert continues to set the bar incredibly high for the world-class quality of his Burgundian-styled, remarkable Chardonnays, which come from relatively cool sites spread from Rutherford in Napa Valley to the far reaches of the Sonoma Coast. Aubert is at the top of his game, and it is hard to believe any Chardonnay winemaker in the world is turning out a half-dozen Chardonnays at this qualitative level year in and year out.
