He has remained in Sydney since and was crowned 2017/18 champion jockey. Avdulla has ridden over 100 winners in his last five seasons in Sydney striking at no less than 14.5%, contributing to his total win tally of 1,124 (as of 25 November). His first G1 win came aboard the Grahame Begg-trained Secret Admirer in the 2010 Flight Stakes at Randwick and his first Australian ‘major’ came aboard Estijaab in the G1 Golden Slipper at Rosehill. Honours: Sydney champion jockey (2017/18). Hong Kong wins (as of 25 November): 0 Badel, Alexis Age: 28. Alexis Badel hails from a racing tradition, his mother being trainer Myriam Bollack-Badel and his father, former jockey Alain Badel. He was France's Champion Apprentice in 2007 and broke into the top 10 in the premiership in just his second year riding, with 60 winners. Badel's first Group race win came aboard Norse King in the October 2013 Prix du Conseil de Paris. He was appointed as the second retained rider for The Aga Khan behind Christophe Soumillon at the beginning of the 2015 racing season and went on to record his most successful season to date with 104 wins. That saw him obtain seventh position in the French Championship. He debuted at Sha Tin with two mounts on 11 December, 2016. His first Hong Kong winner was Supreme Profit on 27 December, 2016 and he ended that maiden two-month stint with seven wins. -

The Tin Man and Librisa Breeze, the past two winners of the QIPCO British Champions Sprint Stakes, are among 14 in this year’s £632,500 renewal, and another seeking a repeat success on the day will be the Aidan O’Brien-trained Hydrangea, who is back to defend her crown in the £600,000 QIPCO British Champions Fillies and Mares Stakes. Among Hydrangea’s ten rivals will be Lah Ti Dar, owned by Lord and Lady Lloyd Webber. -

Frankie on Snowfall in Cazoo Oaks
THURSDAY, 3 JUNE 2021 FRANKIE ON SNOWFALL LAST CALL FOR BREEZERS AT GORESBRIDGE IN NEWMARKET By Emma Berry IN CAZOO OAKS NEWMARKET, UKCCA little later than scheduled, the European 2-year-old sales season will conclude on Thursday with the Tattersalls Ireland Goresbridge Breeze-up, which has returned to Newmarket for a second year owing to ongoing Covid travel restrictions. What was already a bumper catalogue for a one-day sale of more than 200 horses has been beefed up still by the inclusion of 16 wild cards that have been rerouted from other recent sales for a variety of reasons. They include horses with some pretty starry pedigrees, so be prepared for some of the major action to take place late in the day. Indeed the last three catalogued all have plenty to recommend them on paper. Lot 241 from Mayfield Stables is the American Pharoah colt out of the Irish champion 2-year-old filly Damson (Ire) (Entrepreneur). Big Finish to Gold Cup Thriller Cont
FRIDAY, 23 JUNE, 2017 TIPPERARY ON TOP ON DAY TO REMEMBER BIG FINISH TO GOLD CUP By Emma Berry THRILLER As is the tradition at Royal Ascot, the post-race picnics have lasted long into the night this week and guests at Wednesday's traditional Irish gathering had plenty of reason to celebrate. For two small breeding partnerships in Tipperary, Tuesday's results were particularly special. The opening race, the G1 Queen Anne S., went to Ribchester (Ire) (Iffraaj {GB}), bred by Mike O'Brien and Andrew Thompson, and 35 minutes later it was the turn of their neighbour Jim Mulcahy, who bred G2 Coventry S. winner Rajasinghe (Ire) (Choisir {Aus}) in partnership with his son Geoff. "It's difficult to believe--it was really amazing," said Mulcahy senior, a veterinary surgeon from Kilshane. "We came to Ascot hoping that he might run into a place and he surpassed all our expectations. The congratulations we've had from every Tom, Dick and Harry--my phone has nearly blown up. We drank a few bottles of Pimm's and then we drank a few more after that. It won't wear off for a while." cont. p11 A celebratory James Doyle aboard Big Orange | racingfotos.com IN TDN AMERICA TODAY Surprisingly making his first attempt at Royal Ascot=s HORSES SAVING VETS, VETS SAVING HORSES showpiece G1 Gold Cup, popular journeyman Big Orange (GB) Bill Finley profiles Earle Mack’s Man O’ War Project.
