What’s it like beginning a career as a playwright when you’re reaching the age of retirement? And is there a proper way to deal with the loss of a loved one? These are just some of the questions explored at FemFest 2014: She’s Got The Power which takes place September 13th to 20th at the U of W Asper Centre for Theatre and Film. In its 12th year, this national festival of plays by women for everyone will include the voices of Winnipeg seniors — both behind the scenes and on centre stage. Rebecca Gibson is a playwright in this year’s FemFest. Her production, The Naked Woman, tells the story of an 84 year-old widow’s atypical reaction to her wealthy husband’s passing.
