Term 2 Week 4

Another fantastic week was had at RSPS last week. The STEM Day at Binya is What’s happening TERM 2 becoming a favourite amongst students and staff with an engaging and Week 4 educational day experienced by all. We finished the week with a visit from Tuesday 11th May NAPLAN Yr. 3 & 5 starts Jade from Landcare and Sam from Petaurus Education Group to help us Friday 14th May National Walk Safely to move forward with our sustainable garden. Students spent some time School Day propagating seeds, growing seedlings and planting native plants in the 3-6 Theatre Excursion garden. Week 5 Tuesday 18th May Mobile Library Book Fair opens We continued with our busy term of sport with Douglas and Zoe F playing in Wednesday 19th May National Simultaneous the Small Schools Tennis team on Friday. They had a great hit out against Storytime st Griffith East PS. Many thanks to Miss Stevens for coordinating the team. Friday 21 May Lake Small Schools Athletics Week 6 Reconciliation Week Tuesday 25th May Mortimer Shield Apologies to Zavier who was accidentally left off the list of students who Wednesday 26th May Yr 6 Virtual Young Leaders came a place at last week’s cross country. Zavier came third in the 9 year Friday 28th May Zone Cross Country boys division. Week 7 Thursday 3rd June Yr 6 GRIP Leadership th This week students in Years 3 and 5 will be participating in NAPLAN on Friday 4 June Small Schools Soccer RIEN Spelling Bee Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The National Assessment Program – Week 8 Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) assesses literacy and numeracy skills that Tuesday 8th June RIEN Public Speaking are essential for every child to progress through school and life. The Wednesday 9th June P&C Meeting assessment provides parents and schools with an understanding of how Week 9 individual students are performing at the time of the tests. This Tahlon (8 May) is expected to reduce operating costs for schools as well as deliver over 1,200 jobs in NSW. Schools have been selected and prioritised according to factors such as greatest impact on savings, educational outcomes and other benefits, and our school has been included in the first tranche of the program. The LED Lighting Upgrade Program will be planned to minimise interruption to school classes or learning. The installation will be planned outside school hours where possible and a typical installation program is expected to be completed within 4 to 8 weeks. We’ll let you know as soon as we know more.

Reading Awards Reminder: students can earn $ to spend at Bookclub or the upcoming Book Fair. Keep reading, and remember to complete your reading journals and submit to your teacher each Friday.

It’s a great way for your child to keep fit and learn new skills, but it also helps raise funds for vital heart research and education programs.
