Abstract The French Revolution of 1789 was instrumental in the emergence and growth of modern nationalism, the idea that a state should represent, and serve the interests of, a people, or "nation," that shares a common culture and history and feels as one. But national ideas, often with their source in the otherwise cosmopolitan world of the Enlightenment, were also an important cause of the Revolution itself. The rhetoric and documents of the Revolution demonstrate the importance of national ideas. -

Easter is the most important holiday of the year for Christians. To appreciate this holiday it is necessary to really grasp the drama and significance of Jesus’death and resurrection. This story is one of the most dramatic in the whole Bible. However, the Bible is an old book and not written like a modern novel. Therefore it is easy to miss the drama and significance of this story when reading it for the first time. I have written this short version of the story to help you understand this story and the significance of this holiday for us who follow Jesus. -Len Andyshak The Easter Story Matthew 26-28, Mark 14-15, Luke 22-24, John 18-21 It is noon and something has changed. The morning has been sunny and the sky blue. But now it is noon and the sky is dark. Heavy clouds hang low in the sky blocking the sun. It is noon, but it seems as if night is coming. Everything is quiet. Birds are still and people speak in whispers. Something is very wrong. Blood is slowly oozing from the nail which has been driven through Jesus’hand. He is weak and struggling to breathe as he hangs on a wooden cross by three nails which have been driven through his hands and feet. In the dim light he can hear his own heart beating, but he knows that he will die on this cross - under these dark and eerie clouds. For three years Jesus had been one of the most well known people in Israel. -

Testa) During the past two decades, child welfare professionals have given kinship care priority as the preferred least-restrictive, most family-like placement option when a child has to be removed from his or her family. Given this preference, the number of children placed in kinship foster care steadily increased during the 1980s and 1990s, leveling off in the 2000s. Although kinship care has received research attention, much of the extant research has focused on kinship foster care and specific issues such as child safety, stability, permanency, and well-being. However, the available literature lacks investigation into what factors drive the decision to use kinship care, specifically an understanding of why some children are diverted from child welfare system (CWS) into unpaid kinship arrangements while other children enter the traditional foster care system. In addition, the literature lacks evidence that would advance the understanding of the short- and long-term effects of this kind of kinship diversion on child outcomes. -

LOVE IS A BATTLEFIELD I HILL & FLANAGAN Love is a Battlefield: Experience of Love in Relation to Depression Laura Hill and Cherisse Flanagan Abilene Christian University Depression is a debilitating mental illness that entails much more than just sadness. In an attempt to discover if there is a relationship between experience of love and depression, a survey was created to assess these variables. The survey included the Experience of Love Questionnaire (ELQ), an author-developed scale, and the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression scale (Radloffi 1977). The ELQ consisted of three subscales measuring experience of love in family, friends, and romantic relationships. The hypothesis of this study was that there would be a negative correlation between experience of love and depression. The survey was completed by 103 participants and the results revealed a correlation between the two variables. -

The I in the text is collective, the time suggestive. The simultaneity of the four parts of the text can be portrayed any which way. Me to me: You have a responsibility towards your audience. Please keep all the ducks in a row! The ducks: 1 CAST OF CHARACTERS When reading this story out loud, please use the following voices: ELETTRA: fast-paced, sweet, melodic. LOTTE (V.O.): distant but sensitive, straight forward. TURANDOT (V.O.): wild but judgemental (but their friendship is like this). → darlin’, this kind of love is not viable (I can just see it with this fat american country accent lol) Or (Marilyn is so sweet and Jane is much more rough/tough) NARRATOR (V.O.): voice of god (distant), ironic, calm . 2 SCENES PROLOGUE: IN WHICH THE NARRATOR EXPRESSES HER DOUBTS ACT ONE: THE DAY I STOPPED DRINKING I BECAME A PLAYWRIGHT THAT JUST SITS IN COFFEE BARS Which introduces us to the tragedy and its Scene 1: protagonist A brief encounter Scene 2: I took a deep breath and listened to the old bray Scene 3: of my heart. I am. I am. I am A realistic portrayal of someone using love as an Scene 4: escapist drug ACT TWO: A KISS. -
