RESUMO Esta monografia propõe uma reflexão teórica da narrativa transmídia partindo de uma perspectiva que integra narratologia e o estudo das novas mídias. Analisaremos como diversos modos lingüísticos podem aparecer concretamente amalgamados na constituição de um mundo narrativo levando-se em consideração que a migração ou extensão de uma história de um meio para outro não quer dizer, no entanto, que todas as mídias oferecem os mesmos recursos narrativos. ABSTRACT This essay proposes a theoretical reflection on “transmedia storytelling” from a perspective that integrates narratology and the new media studies. It will analyze how the linguistic modes may appear concretely amalgamated in the formation of a narrative world considering that the migration or the extension of a story from one medium to another does not implicates, however, that every media offers the same narrative resources. "! ! INTRODUÇÃO Muitos conceitos têm sido desenvolvidos para descrever a convergência das mídias, linguagens e formatos no sistema midiático contemporâneo. Os processos criativos atuais envolvem a utilização de múltiplas plataformas midiáticas e múltiplas linguagens. Isso significa que podemos encontrar programas televisivos que não limitam-se apenas a televisão, pois livros e filmes também podem fazer parte do seu universo narrativo. É o caso do seriado Twin Peaks1, produzido pela rede ABC na década de 90. Da mesma maneira, o site de um filme pode ser mais do que apenas uma propaganda do produto cinematográfico, podendo revelar detalhes da vida dos personagens relativos a uma época posterior ao final temporal do filme, como no caso do site do filme Donnie Darko produzido em 2001.2 A possibilidade de migrar ou estender a história de um meio para outro não quer dizer, no entanto, que todas as mídias oferecem os mesmos recursos narrativos e que essa transposição não tem efeito na história. Dessa maneira a reflexão teórica escolhida para este trabalho parte de uma perspectiva que integra narratologia e o estudo das novas mídias. A narrativa transmídia propõe um novo modelo narrativo baseado em diferentes mídias e linguagens, por isso a intervenção científica da narratologia será utilizada como metodologia deste trabalho. O termo “narrativa” pode ser entendido de diversas maneiras. Reis e Lopes enumeram as possíveis acepções da narrativa como: narrativa enquanto enunciado; narrativa como conjunto de conteúdos representados por esse enunciado; narrativa como ato de os relatar (Genette 1972, p. 71-72) e ainda narrativa como modo. Definir a narrativa por seu modo de apresentação, em vez de defini-la por seu objeto, conduz a uma negligência das histórias sem narradores e desconsidera o fato de que a história também designa a existência de uma narrativa qualquer que ela seja. Muitos narratologistas analisam a narrativa partindo de uma postulação modal, enquanto outros consideram ambos o aspectos em seus estudos. Mieke Bal, Seymour Chatman, Michel Mathieu-Colas e Gerald Prince, por exemplo, integram a análise da forma e funcionamento da narrativa. A monografia será dividida em quatro capítulos. No primeiro capítulo discutiremos os três tipos de convergência – econômica, tecnológica, e cultural – que criam um ambiente propício ao desenvolvimento de narrativas transmídias. Em particular, narrativa transmidia cria múltiplos pontos de entrada em uma franquia, desenvolve novas formas de compromisso, e aumenta a participação de fãs. Alison Armstrong Re-Envisaging Erikson: Deconstructing Adoption Through the Case of Claire ABSTRACT This theoretical study explored the social construction of adoption present within North American discourse and how this has impacted subsequent theoretical understandings of adoptee development. This was done with a particular emphasis on Eriksonian theories of adoptee development. This study utilized a cultural artifact, namely the character of Claire in Tim Kring’s (2006) television show, Heroes. Claire’s case is then used to compare current uses of Eriksonian theories of psychosocial ego development with possible, more comprehensive iterations of Erikson’s theory. The impact and relevance to social work theory, research and practice are discussed. If you think back to some of the greatest sports moments, you would realize that each one of those special memories occurred because an individual or a team beat the odds when no one thought there was a chance for success. In 2013-14, our student-athletes faced many challenges, and each time, they persevered. Sometimes their efforts were rewarded with victories, and other times they met defeat. Either way, the players represented themselves, their program, and Fairfield University with pride and dignity. In competition, the volleyball team accepted the challenge of defending their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship. Despite being tar- geted by every team in the conference, the program fought for the right to repeat as MAAC Champions and earn the conference’s NCAA Tournament berth. The men’s lacrosse team battled through another national-caliber schedule to reach its highest national ranking during the spring season. The baseball team posted its first 30-win season in school history, while the women’s basketball team registered another 20-win campaign and reached the semifinals of the Women’s Basketball Invitational.

Saul illiam Allen White is best known as a homespun and witty commentator on Kansas and American political, social, and economic life of the first half of the twentieth century. He accomplished this through editorials in his Emporia Gazette, syndicated columns and articles, and several popular books directed at mainstream, middle-class Americans. His role in and writings on international affairs are played down, in fact barely mentioned, not only by his biographers but by White himself in his classic autobiography.1 Yet White’s Wextensive correspondence, newspaper accounts, and many editorials reveal considerable interest in the far abroad, especially in what was happening in Russia, and to Russia, through the impact of World War I and by the consequences of the long-term and deeply ingrained radical socialist movement. My interest in this other side of the “sage of Emporia” stemmed from learning of his “surprise” appointment by President Woodrow Wilson as one of two American delegates to the aborted Prinkipo Conference in early 1919.2 A subset of the Paris Peace Conference, this was an attempt by the peacemakers at Paris to bring the various Russian political factions, including the Bolsheviks, together to try to sort out their differences in a neutral setting.

At that time I had decided to profile the entire Sullivan clan from the beginning of time to the 1980s. This led to extended pilgrimages to collect Sullivan stories in places like Castletown Beare and Butte Montana, both famous for Sullivans. In effect I was setting out to recreat the Book of Sullivan, the original of which was last seen in the early nineteenth century. These clan books were menat to preserve the glorius history of the Celtic clan. My research was a lot of fun, sometimes I would have long late- night phone conversations with Sullivans whom I didn’t know or meet them in strange places. Later, I put the project on the internet and thereafter hundreds of Sullivans assisted in the project, recreating chronology (years AD or BC) set forth in this book. Later I got busy with other things but then recently I met an eccentric Sullivan gent sporting a huge gold necklace here in the Robin Hood pub in Bangkok.
