Start: Cob Close, Crawley Down Grid Ref: TQ 354 375 Distance : Approx 7.5 kms (5 miles) Maps: OS Landranger 1:50 000, Sheet 187 & OS Explorer 1:25 000, Sheet 135 Refreshments: Local shops & public houses (open Sundays) in Crawley Down & East Grinstead Directions: Starting at Cob Close, walk along Worth Way for about 1km, (0.75 miles) and turn right onto the public footpath (a section of the Sussex Border Path) towards Tilkhurst Farm, passing through the kissing gate. Just before the farm, turn left towards Imberhorne Lane. Cross over the lane and continue towards East Grinstead, passing over the old railway line and through Hill Place Farm until you reach the main road (B2110). Turn left and walk along the pavement towards East Grinstead. Just before the mini-roundabout you can link up with the High Weald Landscape Trail. Alternatively follow Brooklands Way and the signs for the railway station and join up with Worth Way again at the station car park. From here you can return to your starting point. Then catch the 291 bus back home. N.B. From East Grinstead High Street you can link up with the Forest Way Country Park walk. A separate plan is being prepared for Copthorne Ward, which makes up the rest of Worth Parish. 2 The Neighbourhood Plan is a new type of planning document. It is the lowest tier of a hierarchy of development plans which include the Local Development Plan prepared by the District Council and the Government’s National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). When approved, this plan will shape the evolution of Crawley Down village and the surrounding countryside. 3 The Plan has been prepared by a sub-committee of Worth Parish Council and is based on substantial consultation with the local population and local businesses to identify and develop solutions for key local issues. Being aligned north-south, it crosses all the main geologies of West Sussex from the greensand ridges, through Wealden river valleys and heathlands, to the high chalk downland and the coastal plain. In so doing it offers a great variety of scenery, flora and fauna. The trail logo reflects this by depicting the South Downs, the River Rother and Chichester Harbour. It can be walked energetically in three days, bearing in mind that the total ‘climb’ is around 650 metres/2,000 feet. The maps divide it into six sections, which although unequal in distance, break the route into stages that allow the possible use of public transport. There is a good choice of accommodation and restaurants in Liphook, Midhurst and Chichester, elsewhere there is a smattering of pubs and B&Bs – although the northern section is a little sparse in that respect.

On behalf of the Mid Sussex Division of Modality Partnership, thank you for your support and feedback to date on the recent consultation relating to changes proposed to bring our four practices together to improve our services. Modality Partnership currently operates four practices in West Sussex: Judges Close Surgery, Ship Street Surgery, Crawley Down Health Centre and Park View Health Partnership. Over the past 12 months, our surgeries have been facing significant challenges and providing continuity of healthcare during the pandemic has made us work in very different ways. Clinical and administrative staff on all four sites have been working very closely together and this has reinforced our view that as a larger practice working within the Modality Partnership, we can deliver better, more flexible and effective care than if we were on our own. Our ambition remains that together we can offer more localised services to our residents, continue to provide safe and effective care and improve the working environment for our staff teams. We will do this through greater cooperation and mutual aid, which will ultimately improve the culture and personalised care we can offer to our patients.
