Midi Family Swinger Vertical Swing 1927 Cyclone Roller Coaster 2011 In 2011, Scream Zone made it’s debut. A thrilling addition to the Luna Park landscape 2011 ADDITIONS with four heart stopping rides. The Soarin’ Eagle and Steeplechase were the new Scream Zone coasters added to this zone. Steeplechase was modeled after the original Steeplechase Part 1: of the past. The Sling Shot was added, which gave riders a Birds Eye view of all of Historical Coney Island Cyclone Coney Island. This same year CAI became the operators of the historic Coney Island Moto Coaster Cyclone. In partnership with The NYC Parks Department CAI continued to refurbish Volare Turbo Force this landmark. Power Surge 1939 Parachute Jump Coney Island 2012 & 2013 NYC We expandeded further adding a go-kart track and a new extreme thrill ride. 2012-13 ADDITIONS We lit the historic 270 foot Parachute Jump in Coney Island by installing 175,000 LED Scream Zone lights and we give a new life to the B&B Carousell. Part 2: The historic B&B Carousell was built in 1906. In 2013, it was restored and placed in Coney Island Raceway Steeplechase Plaza. It featured fifty hand-carved wooden horses and two chariots. Boardwalk Flight Also in 2013, we were awarded the redevelopment of another property, increasing our (Games and more...) footprint and leading to the creation of a brand new steel roller coaster. B&B Carousell Parachute Tower Illumination Watermania 1920s Thunderbolt 2014 This year a brand new extreme thrill roller coaster, the first in decades after The 2014 ADDITIONS Cyclone, was introduced to Coney Island. The new coaster featured a nine seat car Thunderbolt Roller Coaster with a new state of the art restraint system. It features a full 90 degree drop and Midi Discovery 360° many twists and turns. It pays homage to the original Thunderbolt roller coaster Coney’s Cones built in 1925. We also brought Luna 360 a full 360 degree swing to the park. We introduced the delicious flavors of Italian gelato to Coney Island. Coney’s Cones was a welcome addition to the boardwalk. This artisanal gelato shop attracts visitors from near and far. 2015 to 2018 Over these next few years, CAI continued to develop Luna Park. The goal was to 2015 TO 2018 ADDITIONS create a destination where visitors could enjoy the rides, amazing eats, and the Rockin’ Tug Super Happy Swing famed beach and boardwalk. Windstarz + VR Edition Endeavour The Coney Clipper a Pirate Ship swing brought more thrills to our guests. Galleon CAI also introduced an interactive, innovative virtual reality experience as part Sky Tower 38m of the Windstarz attraction. For our younger guests, CAI brought The Brooklyn Barge to Luna Park, twirling tug boat for children. The addition of these rides made Luna Park a destination for thrill seekers of all ages. 2019 TREATS We brought two new rides to Luna Park as well as a new retro arcade. Atlantic Aviator 2019 ADDITIONS offers thrill seekers a one of a kind experience that mimics sensations of an acrobatic Nebulaz Super Air Race airplane flight with its many loops, dives, and soaring heights. Clockworkz is an Galleon exhilarating ride that swings passengers in clockwise and counter clockwise directions New Food Zones: Al Cavallino while spinning 360 degrees. Flywheel Eats Halfmoon Food Court We introduced new food options including, Al Cavallino a traditional Italian Pizzeria Zweety on the boardwalk, Half Moon food court that serves a selection of sweet and savory Retro Arcade, arcade area treats and Flywheel Eats offering traditional amusement park fare. THE BIG The Big Wavez, an interactive water ride will make it’s debut on Opening Day 2020. This ride brings King WAVEZ Neptune to life as riders interact with motion sensors and watch an interactive video screen. Their actual behavior and motions will change the experience of the & ride. Each ride will be different, however it will always be wet. There will be a viewing platform so non-riders can THE enjoy the thrills as well. The Ropes Course adventure zone will premiere Opening ROPES Day 2020. Climbers will experience breath-taking views of the boardwalk and ocean. There will be a ropes course COURSE as well as zip lines for all ages and skill levels. This circus themed area will be located next to the Thunderbolt Coaster. This will bring the thrills of Luna Park to new heights! A portion of the broadwalk will be transformed into a massive new log flume located next to the Thunderbolt. THE SUPER The ride will operate with 12 flume boats that can seat up to 6 guests at a time. Crowds will be cooled and thrilled FLUME RIDE even on the hottest of summer days! The log flume ride will provide guests a semi-circle panoramic route view of Coney Island before plunging down at a speed of over 30mph for the big splash! The coaster will launch Opening Day 2020. This family thrill ride will intertwine with the new flume ride. THE Riders will experience a one-of-a kind coaster as it twists and turns through the log flume. It will consist of two JUNIOR beautifully designed trains that will have ADA access in each train. COASTER It will provide guests amazing views of the boardwalk, beach and Coney Island. The coaster will be approxi- mately 400 meters long and will consist of 2 trains with a capacity of 20 guests per train. Stillwell Avenue between Surf Avenue and the broadwalk will be completely transformed. This new public space will be a pedestrian playground, that is an open air entertainment destination. The area will be adorned with PUBLIC shaded seating and greenery. The re-imagined Stillwell Avenue will welcome guests SPACES with a new colorful facade. The diverse traditions of Coney Island will also be celebrated with art installations and performances.     ACE’s Scandinavian Sojourn : A Southerner’s Perspective Story by: Richard Bostic, assisted by Ronny Cook When I went on the ACEspana trip back in 2009, it was by far one of the most amazing vacations I have ever experienced. In addition to getting to visit parks in a different culture than we see here, it is also a great opportunity to spend time with fellow enthusiasts and grow friendships while enjoying our common interests. When Scandinavia Sojourn was announced for the summer of 2011, I knew it was a trip I could not miss. Since the 2009 trip was my first trip to Europe I thought that there was no way the over- all experience could be better in Scandinavia. I was wrong. We landed in Helsinki, Finland around 1300 the day before we were required to be at the hotel to meet with the group. Helsinki is an interesting city and fairly new compared to many cities in Europe. Walking around the city you can see the Russian influence in the city’s architecture. In fact, many movies during the cold war would use Helsinki to shoot scenes that are supposed to be set in the Soviet Union. After making our way to the Crowne Plaza Hotel and getting a quick lunch at the hotel restaurant we decided to spend the remaining time that afternoon checking out some of the sites around our hotel. Some of these sites included the Temppeliaukio Church inside of a rock formation, the train station, Routatientori Square and National Theater, and a couple of the city’s art museums.

The park first opened in the summer of 2017 and Zamperla was involved in both the first and second phases of the construction, supplying the venue with three highly themed attractions. One of these was a Magic Bikes, a popular, interactive family ride which sees participants use pedal power to make their vehicle soar into the sky. Since each question requires them to essentially design a methodology for developing a solution to the question, students may approach any particular question differently. As a result, there may be several different solutions to the same question and there may be more than one right answer. What if? The log flume is a ride that sends riders down a long slope into a pond, producing a rather large wave. Does the size of the wave depend on the number of people in the car? What happens to the size of the wave if someone large is in the front of the flume? What if someone large is in the back of the flume? What if you wanted to ride the flume and not get wet, where would you sit? Why do they do that? Look at several different roller coasters in the Park and find the ones that have vertical loops. Where in these rides are the loops located (towards the beginning, middle, or end)? Why are they placed there? Are there any roller coasters that are different from the rest in terms of the placement of the vertical loop? When a roller coaster enters a turn, it follows a track that is banked. Why do they bank turns for roller coasters? You may notice that some turns are banked at larger angles than other turns. Why do those turns require a larger angle? How much is that? As a general rule, a roller coaster reaches its maximum speed at the bottom of the first hill.

    The American Dream America's latest shopping & leisure experience in New Jersey Many years ago so-called "XXL shopping malls" the urban shopping experience in concentrated form spread as a major trend from America to Europe and the rest of the world. The West Edmonton Mall, which opened in Canada in 1981 and was considered the world's largest shopping centre until 2004, set standards for modern shopping facilities early on combined with a wealth of entertainment offerings. The Mall of America in Bloomington/Minnesota (USA, opened in 1992) can also boast superlatives: with more than 40 million visitors annually, it is the world's most visited shopping mall. All these projects have a connection to the Edmonton/Alberta-based project developer Triple Five Group, a company founded by the Ghermezian family in the mid-Sixties and still owned by them. The West Edmonton Mall and the Mall of America were developed and continue to be operated by the Canadian company. The most recent projects of the Triple Five conglomerate include the new American Dream shopping and entertainment centre in the US state of New Jersey, the first section of which was officially opened on 25 October 2019 (see EAP News of 25 October 2019). In 2011 the Triple Five Group took over the retail project in East Rutherford, originally planned under the name "Meadowlands Xanadu", which had been under construction since 2004. The complex is now to be completed in four phases and will subsequently contain hundreds of retail, catering, entertainment and fashion offerings on an area of approximately 279,000 square meters.

    Landmarks Preservation Commission July 12, 1988; Designation List 206 LP-1636 THE CYCLONE, 834 Surf Avenue at West 10th Street, Brooklyn. Built 1927. Inventor Harry c. Baker. Engineer Vernon Keenan. Landmark Site: Borough of Brooklyn Tax Map Block 8697, Lot 4 in part consisting of the land on which the described improvement is situated. On September 15, 1987, the Landmarks Preservation Commission held a public hearing on the proposed designation as a Landmark of the cyclone and the proposed designation of the related Landmark Site (Item No. 12). The hearing had been duly advertised in accordance with the provisions of law. Six witnesses spoke in favor of designation, including the ride's owner, whose support was given dependant upon his ability to perform routine repair and maintenance. One witness spoke in opposition to designation. The Commission has received many letters in favor of designation. DESCRIPTION AND ANALYSIS Summary Descended from the ice slides enjoyed in eighteenth-century Russia, through the many changes incorporated by French and American inventors, the Cyclone has been one of our country's premier roller coasters since its construction in 1927. Designed by engineer Vernon Keenan and built by noted amusement ride inventor Harry C. Baker for Jack and Irving Rosenthal, the Cyclone belongs to an increasingly rare group of wood-track coasters; modern building codes make it irreplaceable. The design of its twister-type circuit and the enormous weight of the cars allow the trains to travel on their own momentum after being carried up to the first plunge by mechanical means. Now part of Astroland amusement park, the Cyclone is not only a well­ recognized feature of Coney Island, where the first "modern" coaster was built in 1884, but, sadly, is the only roller coaster still operating there.
