U.S. Army Launches Goarmy Edge App for Coaches and Athletes New U.S. Army Launches GoArmy Edge App for Coaches and Athletes New Coaching App Leverages Army’s Leading Innovation Technology and Training Experience to Empower Coaches and Athletes ALEXANDRIA, VA. and CANTON, OHIO (Aug. 6, 2015) – The U.S. Army today announced the launch of GoArmy Edge, a free software application adapted to help football athletes learn their team’s playbooks, make proper reads and play calls, and mentally practice their assignments in a virtual environment before taking the field. GoArmy Edge takes virtual coaching simulation and training to a new level through unprecedented detail and customization, helping improve football team performance through more effective and safer player practice capabilities. “Currently, many high school football teams use paper copies of their playbooks and whiteboards, as well as videos of practice and previous games to teach plays and formations, all of which limit viewing angles and have no drill capability,” said Rob Everett, assistant football coach and defensive coordinator at Westfield High School in Chantilly, Va. and a consultant on the project. “Through the GoArmy Edge app, we’re able to visualize and simulate hundreds of plays, which help us practice with more flexibility and efficiency while reducing the risk of potential injury and preparing our players for any potential on field situation.” GoArmy Edge uses the latest technologies to enhance coaching strategies by providing interactive playbooks, allowing players to view the plays as they are being executed in the 3D environment from the players’ perspective or from any position on the field. To ensure the highest level of coaching and player input was integrated in the GoArmy Edge functionalities, the Army has partnered with the Indianapolis Colts since 2014. This collaboration has allowed the Army to incorporate invaluable insights to continue enhancing the EDGE technology. "We are excited to enter our second year working with the U.S. Army on the technology for GoArmy Edge. Following its implementation last year, we received tremendous feedback from our coaching staff and players," said Indianapolis Colts General Manager Ryan Grigson. "Preparation is a critical factor for success in our sport so it made perfect sense to team up with the Army, an organization that truly epitomizes preparedness. This program utilizes the same technology that our brave servicemen and women use to prepare themselves when they are called to action. I believe this app can help revolutionize the way coaches at any level across the country prepare and develop their players for the gridiron." "We have been honored to partner with the U.S. Army in adapting the GoArmy Edge app,” said Indianapolis Colts Head Coach Chuck Pagano. “One of the most important aspects of football is teamwork, and there is no better team to learn from than our military. Many of our principles align with the Army as we both seek to prepare our teams to perform at the highest level." As a team reviews an upcoming opponent’s game film, they can elevate their preparation with GoArmy Edge by modeling the opponent’s plays against their own. This facilitates both coach-led training and individual training, and provides players quality mental reps from anywhere at any time while minimizing risk of injury in contact-based practice. “For more than 240 years, the Army has been a leader in training the most adaptable team because failure is not an option,” said Mark S. Davis, deputy assistant secretary of the Army for marketing. “GoArmy Edge provides the Nation’s coaches and youth with a preeminent training experience to drive increased player and coach performance, so they can win for their teams like the U.S. Army expects to win when the American people call on us.” With GoArmy Edge, coaches can put their plays onto a projector, TV screen, and/or tablet for optimal review during a team strategy session. Other key features of the GoArmy Edge app include: • Built-in Playbooks and Drills – GoArmy Edge comes loaded with built-in playbooks and drills for the pro-style, spread, and wing-t offenses, which are mapped against even, odd, nickel, and dime defenses. Coaches also have access to hundreds of offensive and defensive formations, put together as virtual flashcards to test players. • Draw and Edit Your Plays - Draw routes, blocks, pre-snap motions and more to create plays. Use built-in tools to quickly select standard moves, set the ball on a hash or precisely align players. • Whiteboard - A pre-populated mode for instantly drawing plays and moving players around. Draw as fast as if using a whiteboard. • See Your Plays in Real-Time 3D - See offensive and defensive plays in 2D or in 3D virtual environments with accurate animations, timing, and ball-handling. View from any camera angle, or player perspective to see it as they do on the field. • Precision Player Movements – Use the play editor to fine-tune player movements, such as first cuts, option handoffs, and more, in order to illustrate plays accurately. • Customize Uniforms - Customize uniforms to match team colors, style and numbers for your team and upcoming opponents. • Train - Set up drills for players to review formations and plays on their own with notes from the coach. • Shareable - Coaches can create personnel groups and invite other coaches and players to join in the app to share the information. GoArmy Edge is available for free to schools of all sizes and can be used on both tablet and PC browsers. It is available to download through Apple’s App store and Google Play. For more information, visit www.goarmyedge.com. Coaches can contact their local Army recruiting station by pressing the unlock button to gain access to more features, including additional playbooks, as well as the ability to use drills in their own playbooks and modify players’ uniforms. Recruiters are also available to answer questions about the app and share tips on physical and mental fitness, as well as leadership training for athletes. GoArmy Edge was produced by the Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center's Software Engineering Directorate Army Game Studio, located at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala., and funded by the Army Marketing and Research Group. About the Army Marketing and Research Group (AMRG) The Army Marketing and Research Group (AMRG) is the U.S. Army’s national marketing, marketing research and analysis and accessions analysis organization. • Vance Joseph to Return As Broncos' Head Coach in 2018
Vance Joseph to return as Broncos’ head coach in 2018 By Nicki Jhabvala Denver Post January 2, 2018 Despite a 5-11 season, eight defeats by double digits and a playoffless finish, the Broncos will retain coach Vance Joseph for next season, giving him a chance “to fix it,” just as he had hoped. Joseph met with John Elway early Monday to learn of the general manager’s decision and to mull changes to the coaching staff, which included the departure of six assistants. “Vance and I had a great talk this morning about our plan to attack this offseason and get better as a team,” Elway tweeted Monday morning. “We believe in Vance as our head coach. Together, we’ll put in the work to improve in all areas and win in 2018. “To all our fans: THANK YOU for your tremendous support and sticking with us through a tough year. This wasn’t the season anyone expected, but we’ll learn from it and be better because of it. Our 2018 season starts today.” In keeping Joseph for 2018, Elway spared the Broncos of a fourth head coaching change in five years and provided a significant cost savings. Had Joseph left, the Broncos could have had to pay the remaining salaries of most of two coaching staffs. Joseph was hired last January after the resignation of Gary Kubiak and was immediately labeled “a leader of men” because of his ability to relate to players on both sides of the ball, and to work well with fellow coaches. The Broncos had tried to bring in Joseph as defensive coordinator in 2015, but the Cincinnati Bengals refused to release him from his contract.

This is the point where every NFL team has the chance to significantly alter their upcoming season with shrewd moves in both free agency and the draft. Consider what some of the best team in 2016 were able to accomplish during this point in the season last year: The Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots traded a fourth round pick to the Chicago Bears in exchange for tight end Martellus Bennett and a sixth round draft choice. Bennett would serve as the important #2 tight end in New England and the eventual starter with the injury to Rob Gronkowski. The Atlanta Falcons signed Cleveland Browns center Alex Mack to a contract that made him one of the highest paid centers in the NFL. Mack rewarded the Falcons with an All-Pro season in which he was the perfect piece in creating a solid offensive line. The team also added receiver Mohamed Sanu from Cincinnati who ended up catching 59 passes and four touchdowns. The Oakland Raiders gave a one year deal to receiver Michael Crabtree as he attempted to return from injury.

Strawser Stacie Shain Alexandria Thompson Katie Vulich Crystal Simons Bellarmine University Abstract In January 2015, the Indianapolis Colts informed the National Football League of suspicion of ball deflation by the New England Patriots in a playoff game. What followed was a multi-year battle between the NFL, a “model” franchise, and one of the league’s most polarizing players, Tom Brady. A GM is generally responsible for the overall control and direction of the organization, including, perhaps most importantly, the success of the team on the field, court or rink. Perhaps the keen interest in being a GM is best ex- emplified through fantasy sports. Fantasy sports enable the fantasy team’s owner to control an organization and select its players in the hopes of winning a championship.

Former Titans head coach Mike Munchak brings 37 years of NFL experience as Broncos candidate By Ryan O’Halloran Denver Post Jan. 5, 2019 Consecutive wins to end the 2013 season allowed the Tennessee Titans to finish 7-9 under third-year coach Mike Munchak. Many believed he would be fired. Ultimately Munchak was dismissed but not until he turned down a contract extension and raise in salary when he refused to fire multiple assistant coaches. Fast forward to Friday, when Munchak, 58, was at the Broncos’ facility interviewing with general manager John Elway, president/CEO Joe Ellis and others for the opening created by Vance Joseph’s firing on Monday. Munchak’s loyalty is to be applauded, but the formation of his potential coaching staff should be a major topic of discussion. Munchak is the third known candidate to meet with the Broncos, who interviewed Chuck Pagano (Wednesday) and Zac Taylor (Thursday). On the docket are Brian Flores (Saturday) and Vic Fangio (Monday). Since leaving the Titans, Munchak has been the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offensive line coach. Last January, he removed himself from consideration for the Arizona Cardinals’ head coaching position. Earlier this week, the Green Bay Packers requested an interview. Munchak checks two of the boxes Elway is assumed to want: Previous head-coaching experience and a background on offense. He played 12 years at guard for the Houston Oilers, was named to the Pro Bowl nine times, twice selected All Pro and, in 2001 was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. To his credit, Munchak didn’t use his playing status to take short cuts in coaching.

John Fox fires back at Jim Irsay over Peyton Manning bashing By Mike Klis The Denver Post October 15, 2013 Broncos coach John Fox. Broncos coach John Fox fired back at Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay on Tuesday in defense of Peyton Manning. Irsay earlier implied in an interview with USA Today that he wanted to move on from Manning’s “star wars” stats and start winning more Super Bowls. Fox, on his weekly appearance on NFL Sirius radio on Tuesday with Jim Miller and Pat Kirwan, was asked about Irsay’s comments. “I saw the comments. And to be honest with you, I thought it was a bit of a cheap shot,” Fox said. “To me, in my opinion, they were disappointing and inappropriate. “Peyton would never say anything. He’s too classy to do that. They sounded a little ungrateful and unappreciative to me. For a guy who has set a standard, won a Super Bowl, won four MVP awards… be thankful of that one Super Bowl ring, because a lot of people don’t have one.” Irsay, among other quotes, said in reference to Manning’s time with the Colts: “(Tom) Brady never had consistent numbers, but he has three of these,” Irsay said. “Pittsburgh had two, the Giants had two, Baltimore had two and we had one. That leaves you frustrated.” Here’s a link to Fox’s radio interview. • Week 13 NFL Preview
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 12/1/15 http://twitter.com/nfl345 PLAYOFF RACES HEAT UP AS NFL SEASON ENTERS DECEMBER As the calendar turns to December, the NFL playoff picture is starting to take shape. With five games remaining in the regular season, there are currently 21 teams either in or within one game of a playoff spot. “These next five games are very important,” says Arizona Cardinals cornerback PATRICK PETERSON. “We want to make sure our guys are ready for this run of the season.” The Carolina Panthers own the NFL’s best record at 11-0. Carolina, who travels to New Orleans this week (FOX, 4:25 PM ET), has won 15 consecutive regular-season games and the team’s 11-0 start is the first in franchise history. “There’s going to be a lot of talk and speculation about it,” says Panthers head coach RON RIVERA on the possibility of a 16-0 regular season. “But the truth of the matter is that it should only be geared to the next game. I know this much: the next possibility is 12. We’ll continue to take that one-game-at-a-time mentality. We can’t get ahead of ourselves. We can’t look at what the possibilities are other than what’s in front of us. That’s what the mantra is going to continue to be.” Some of the other key contests in Week 13: GREEN BAY PACKERS (7-4) at DETROIT LIONS (4-7) (Thursday, CBS/NFLN, 8:25 PM ET) The Packers enter December one game behind Minnesota in the NFC North.

Bruce Arians is the New Tampa Bay Buccaneers Head Coach Author : Scott DelleFave Former Arizona Cardinals Head Coach and current CBS Broadcaster, Bruce Arians is going to have some waterfront property as he will be taking over the reigns for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Arians a Patterson, New Jersey native has had an extensive coaching career that started back in 1975 at Virginia Tech as a graduate assistant. In 1983, he received his first head coaching job where he took over at Temple University and he was there until 1988 with a less than stellar record of 27-39. After being let go at Temple, he would bounce around between the NFL and NCAA teams until his biggest break when he was the offensive coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts, as he was named interim head coach on October 1st, 2012 as Chuck Pagano began treatments for Leukemia. Arians turned the team around with a 9-3 record filling in and led the Colts to the playoffs clinching the #5 seed, however they lost in wild card round to the Baltimore Ravens. With the 9-3 record, Arians became the first coach on an interim basis to be named NFL Coach of the Year. After that season, he took his talents to the desert, where he would be named the new Arizona Cardinals head coach in January 2013. Arians enjoyed early success with the Cardinals, making the playoffs in two of the first three seasons with the club having a combined 34-14 record and making the NFC Championship game in his third season, with 1 / 2 being named coach of the year again for the 2014-2015 season.
