PaddleNSW welcomes all paddlers, officials, volunteers and spectators to the 2020 NSW Canoe Slalom State Championships.

Competition Rules

1. The event shall be conducted under the 2019 ICF Canoe Slalom Competition Rules unless stated otherwise 2. If time permits athletes 14 years and under may have one practice run on the course at the advertised time

Entries

1. Entry Submission for this event will be via the Australia Go Membership online page 2. Entry fee is $50 which is payable on registering for the event 3. Entries Close on Tuesday 10th November at 9 pm. 4. Late Entries will be accepted at the discretion of the Competition organiser, in accordance with Covid19 Safety Plan, together with a late fee of $30.00 5. Entries must be accompanied by evidence of club registration for all athletes 6. Classes available are C1M, K1W, K1M, C1W, C2. Athletes may only enter 2 classes. 7. C2 entries must be approved by the Chief Judge and should only be entered by experienced C2 teams. 8. Age Classification will be based on the age as of 31/12/2020. Ages for the NSW Slalom championships will be as follows:

9. Constitution of a class: For a class to be contested there must be a minimum of three entries at the close of entries and at least two starters. Where there is not a constituted class athletes will be rolled up (or down) in accordance with the policy. 10. Championship Medals: Medals will be award for First, Second and Third place based on the best result of the two runs. Medals will only be awarded for constituted classes.

Interstate & International Athletes 1. Interstate and International Athletes will be permitted to enter under the same rules as NSW 2. Interstate and/or international athletes will receive their appropriate medal.

Craft

1. All craft and equipment must comply with the requirements outlined in the relevant ICF rules and may be scrutineered for dimensions, weight, buoyancy, handholds and safety in accordance with these rules 2. Any competitor’s equipment may be selected for post competition equipment control. Athlete’s equipment that does not pass a post competition check will be disqualified for that run (DSQ‐R) 3. Athletes not at the start line at the designated start time may not be permitted to start.

Racing Format

1. The competition will constitute two runs in each class 2. The start order will be as per the published start lists in reverse ranked order based on ICF rankings followed by Australian rankings. Paddlers without a ranking will be appropriately placed at the start of the list. 3. Provisional Start lists will be published on Thursday 12th November 4. Final start lists will be published prior to the commencement of the competition. 5. Start intervals will be 60 seconds between each competitor subject to entries. 6. The final placings will be determined by the best of the two runs

1. A course designer will be appointed by PaddleNSW Slalom Technical committee

Enquiries & Protests

1. Enquiries must be notified to compiling within 5 minutes of the provisional results being posted on the results board

Organisation & Safety

1. Clubs are required to provide volunteers to assist with the running of the event 2. The safety of competitors, club representatives, the organising team and the public is the highest priority 3. The Organisers have developed a CovidSafe plan for this event (see below) 4. Rescue will be provided by Penrith Whitewater Stadium 5. Two boats are to remain on the water after the finish.

1. The NSW State Canoe Slalom Championships Covidsafe Plan is published on Paddle NSW website. Please review this plan prior to the event. 2. All athletes, officials and spectators must register with the front office of PWS on entry to the stadium 3. Athletes, officials and spectators must comply with the Covidsafe Plan of Penrith Whitewater Stadium – see attachment
