10095 – Emission Label Visibility 2003-2009 Chevrolet Kodiak 2003-2009 GMC TopKick Equipped with 7.8L Diesel Engine (LG4/LF8) Condition General Motors has decided to conduct a Voluntary Emission Recall involving certain 2003-2009 model year Chevrolet Kodiak and GMC TopKick vehicles equipped with a 7.8L diesel engine (LG4/LF8). These vehicles were built with the engine emission label installed in a location that is visually obstructed by the air cleaner. Correction Dealers are to install a supplemental label on the underside of the hood. Since a new supplemental label can be easily installed, and to reduce the customer's inconvenience, the label will be sent directly to customers of record, along with the installation instructions. Customers may install the label on the underside of the hood. However, if they desire, they may bring the label to their dealer for installation at no charge. Vehicles Involved Involved are certain 2003-2009 model year Chevrolet Kodiak and GMC TopKick vehicles equipped with a 7.8L diesel engine (LG4/LF8), and built within these VIN breakpoints: 2003 Chevrolet Kodiak 3F500075 3F522422 2004 Chevrolet Kodiak 4F100249 4F523033 2005 Chevrolet Kodiak 5F500063 5F534722 2006 Chevrolet Kodiak 6F400008 6F424933 2007 Chevrolet Kodiak 7F400027 7F426673 2008 Chevrolet Kodiak 8F400004 8F418468 2009 Chevrolet Kodiak 9F400001 9F900027 2003 GMC TopKick 3F500042 3F522521 2004 GMC TopKick 4F500076 4F902402 2005 GMC TopKick 5F500316 5F534787 2006 GMC TopKick 6F400019 6F904916 2007 GMC TopKick 7F400002 7F902130 2008 GMC TopKick 8F00010 8F900115 2009 GMC TopKick 9F400003 9F900020 Important Dealers are to confirm vehicle eligibility prior to beginning repairs by using the Required Field Actions section in the Global Warranty system. Not all vehicles within the above breakpoints may be involved. For dealers with involved vehicles, a listing with involved vehicles containing the complete vehicle identification number, customer name, and address information has been prepared and will be provided to US and Canadian dealers through the GM GlobalConnect Recall Reports, or sent directly to export dealers. Dealers will not have a report available if they have no involved vehicles currently assigned. The listing may contain customer names and addresses obtained from Motor Vehicle Registration Records. The use of such motor vehicle registration data for any purpose other than follow-up necessary to complete this recall is a violation of law in several states/provinces/countries. Accordingly, you are urged to limit the use of this report to the follow-up necessary to complete this recall. Parts Information Note To determine the applicable label part number, refer to the VIN listing located in the GM GlobalConnect Library. Before November 1, 2010: Supplemental Vehicle Emission Control Labels will be mailed to owners of record. Labels for vehicles in dealer inventory are to be obtained by completing the form below and faxing it to AIPDN Parts Technical Staff at 714-938-0350. Please be sure to complete the form thoroughly, including the section on why the label is needed. If any information on the form is missing or incomplete, AIPDN will return the form to the dealership so that it may be completed and resubmitted. The form also requires the engine serial number, which is located on the right front, top part of the cylinder block below the number one exhaust port. On and after November 1, 2010: Only dealers with Isuzu Truck Service Agreements will be able to order the Supplemental Vehicle Emission Control Labels directly from AIPDN. If your dealership does not have an agreement, contact another GMC/Chevrolet dealer with an active Isuzu Truck Service Agreement or contact your local Isuzu Truck dealer. Complete the form below and provide it to the ordering dealer or fax it to AIPDN Parts Technical Staff at 714 938 0350. Forms received after November 1 without an active Isuzu dealer code will be discarded. Note If the local Isuzu dealer has questions about providing the label, please have the dealer reference AIPDN Bulletin PTS-LV02-17. Service Procedure 1. Open the vehicle hood. 2. Locate the inside of the engine hood cover on the driver's side where the label (1) is to be affixed. 3. Ensure that the area is clean and dry.
