10. £200 MMJ’s £200 Voucher 11. Joyce Tindsley – mezzo-soprano

As a dairy farmer’s daughter, Joyce is pleased to offer an hour’s singing lesson at her home in for the auction in aid of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institute. Joyce teaches beginners to professionals so the lesson can cover basic singing technique, be a taster session for a new singer, or a coaching session on a piece you are already working on, it will be tailored to your needs. The lesson will be recorded on CD for you to take away with you. Joyce is a proficient pianist so will be able to accompany your lesson.

As a member of the BBC Northern Singers and as a soloist Joyce has worked with legendary conductors such as Georg Solti, Charles Groves, Richard Hickox, Stephen Cleobury, John Rutter, and David Willcocks and sung in many major concert halls and cathedrals around Britain. She was the soloist for a BBC Radio 2 Easter meditation at Salisbury Cathedral performing live with the BBC Concert Orchestra, and continues her thirty-year connection with the BBC singing regularly on Radio 4’s Daily Service. She has been involved in many CD recordings for the BBC and, most recently, with the quintet Intimate Voices who have just released a CD of Christmas music by John Turner on the Divine Art label.

Notable and forthcoming performances include Elgar’s The Apostles at King’s College, Cambridge for Stephen Cleobury, Mozart’s Requiem with Sir David Willcocks at Coventry Cathedral, Verdi’s Requiem at The Monastery in Gorton, Elgar’s “Dream of Gerontius” for the Mary Wakefield Festival in Cumbria, and for the Dorset Guild of Singers at The Lighthouse in Poole, and Schumann’s Frauenliebe und Leben at Eaton Hall, Cheshire. Joyce was the classical soloist in Karl Jenkins’ Stabat Mater UK tour performing, conducted by the composer, at venues including St.David’s Hall, Cardiff, York Minster, and Winchester Cathedral, she also sang the work with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra at various venues in the south

Joyce is an experienced vocal tutor as well as being a working professional singer. She was Professor of Voice at Lancaster University 1988-93, and has led masterclasses at Chethams School of Music, courses for organisations such as the Chapter House Choir of York Minster, Preston Arts, Kirkham Singers, LGN Choir St. Helens,and the W.I. She has been the vocal tutor on courses for the Association of British Choral Directors and has led weekly adult singing classes in the Preston area for over 25 years.

Joyce runs a thriving teaching practice at her home in Burscough, and has recently been appointed Vocal Tutor for the Huddersfield Choral Society.
